Sunderland.
Sad to say that the lad who was stabbed to death was a very good friend of my youngest son.. Absolutely tragic and only 18 years old..

It’s a weird thing, it’s always x 10 worse to hear about these things when it’s your home town, even though I haven’t lived there for nearly 20 years.

I’m not sure there’s much you can have done by ages 18 to deserve that.

There are a few things that I can't mention due to the police investigation, but my youngest lad is devastated, and would have been out with them if he didn't have some uni work to finish off before going back this afternoon..

Fair play mate, hope the young uns alright its a hell of a lot to take in at that age.

Its unbelievable to think that somebody is strolling about the City centre with a knife on a busy Saturday evening. Tragic.

I'm absolutely sickened by this mate, no idea how you're all feeling.

I used to do an hour, on the front door of Rock City, before I went inside for the groups coming on.

I still have a little 'museum' of some of the hardware I confiscated from people.

Some of it is lethal and makes you wonder about society.

We're all thinking about you here.

It was doorman from a nearby nightclub who managed to disarm the culprit and hold him there for the police.. Ambulance called, but sadly couldn't save the youngen.. I think he was stabbed up to eight times..

A few week ago my Grandson, along with some friends, aged 15/14 had gone into town for a meal in Nando's? (or similar) on a Friday night.
Afterwards they decided to have a stroll round the City Centre.

Around the Park Lane area they were stopped by a Police Officer who, noticing their ages, suggested that this was no place for them as the 'rough time' was approaching and advised them to head home.
They did.

Damn good advice.
If I knew who he was I'd be delighted to buy him a pint or two.

Truth is, this is the first example of its kind that I can remember in the city centre, and hopefully the last..

Just shows how fast and random this info can spread cos, other than the football team, I have no links with Sunderland whatsoever. No family, friends, work colleagues, nowt.

I had already heard the name of the lad who is alleged to have done it shortly after the news broke, due to the connections of my youngest son and daughter.. By all accounts he is a wrongen.. A second arrest has also taken place today..

Picture posted on social media of him. Like you say everyone should stay out of it and let the police do their job.

Doormen get a bad press but most of the lads I worked with were trouble stoppers who'd always try to do the right thing.
