Congratulations Ellers, I’m a bit jet lagged, but that response has left me gobsmacked. I’ll find a British Parliamentary Democracy for Dummies guide for you.

As I’ve said before on here, if you think a disastrous mistake has been made, even with the backing of a majority in a referendum, the most patriotic thing you can do is fight it. Clarke and Soubry are doing what they believe is their duty. They might be mistaken, they certainly know it puts their future as MPs at risk (hopefully Mogg and Redwood are in the same boat given that they have sold out their constituents according to your interpretation of our system), they clearly have immense courage in their convictions (how easy would it have been to roll over and say nothing?) and their right to do what they are doing must be respected.

You are supposed to be in Dallas?
As far as I am concerned you must respect the result. are you saying different? All JRM and Redwood are doing is respecting the result of the referendum. Redwood says that all the time. If the people here don't like that, then they can vote out at the next election.
However Mad Anna and Clark are not only not respecting the result they are not respecting their constituents as well. They will both be gone at the next election so I guess they don't care now.
Saying that if May betrays the result I see a lot of tories losing seats.

I am in Dallas. It’s 5.00pm in the afternoon and they have the Internet in the USA. Though my sanity must be questioned if I spend a few minutes between meetings looking at this thread.

Back to work over a beer now.

    Yes it does
“provides for exit from the EU on time with a new backstop, which would be acceptable indefinitely, but which incentivises us all to reach a new future relationship. It ensures there is no need for a hard border with Ireland.”
Although Lisa Nandy has just said on QT that the EU has already rejected it (which I had not heard).

Just getting back to Sb and bob's mocking of my comments re Mad Anna and Clark? JRM just answered the question. it was in the Tory manifesto that the result would be respected. So I guess my comments were correct after all.

Well said Lisa Nandy MP who just said on QT that she is a remainer, hated the result but respected it and won't go against it. <applause>

Yes, and compromising on a Customs Union would be respecting the referendum result too, so I guess Corbyn is right as well.

Anyway, back to the point, what is the new backstop?
