Google is your friend. A youthful Keith Peacock replaced the injured Mike Rose as Sub. My time as an Addick began in 1975, Charlton 0, QPR 3, to be precise. The name sort of rings a bell somewhere
People only know the name because of the Stand. Shouldn't it be the Bartram Stand or the Curbishley Stand by now?
The Lawrence Stand would be even better. I might e mail the club and suggest that there is a groundswell of support for it.
No Charlton fan under the age of 50 even remembers who Lenny Lawrence was. Time to rename it the Sir Chris Powell stand, in honour of the only great Charlton manager the younger generation will have heard of
Stand by for the putrifying Powell sentimentality elsewhere Are Curb It & Weegie tossing their bras onto the pitch tomorrow ?
Powell seems to be under pressure at little Southend. To be honest, in around ten seasons as a manager, he’s had one good one. The same as Karl Robinson. A 4-0 pasting tomorrow could see Powell facing the tunnel jump.
Lee Bowyer will be the manager under pressure tomorrow. One goal and one point from Charlton's last two games? Nowhere near good enough. We should be putting little teams like Southend down 4-0 at home, that is the least I would expect. Bowyer doesn't get one bonus sympathy point from me for agreeing to work under an absolute pr**k of an owner. Powell wouldn't kowtow to Duchatelet's nonsense and that makes him a better man all day long in my book.
Bowyer has a proper scout to work with, one who is a football man, not a computer geek. Hence he doesn't have an influx of network crap, with Roland interfering in his job. Neither does he have Ms Meire fanning the flames. Bowyer's only error in this respect has been to play Steer ahead of Phillips, which Lady Luck has rectified. Comparisons are unfair.
