I thought Cedric was quite an exciting player with an inevitable anticlimax. I thought he should have tried to dribble into the box or pass back from the byline more, rather than cross, he was fast and could get past players.

I'd have rather we'd kept him till the summer as cover is lacking in that area. Not sure about Ramsey at right back.

O Jogo reporting that Saints have agreed on a fee of £17.3m with Inter Milan and the deal will be completed in the next couple of days.

We're apparently now making a formal offer for Joakim Mæhle.

I’ve never been his greatest fan, and think we’ve been weak in that position since Clyde left. I am also very excited about Yan Valery.

But I still don’t get the overdue haste of some supporters to see him gone. He has flaws, but he’s worked on them, and improved several aspects of his game while he’s been with us. He’s been an ever present, and as far as I can see, a model pro. Be sorry to see him go really, although this might be the right time for him and us.

Was Bonnie here as well? :)

Good to see that the club is finally getting on with the much needed clearout, which should have been done in the summer. Would like to see at least 1 come in in this window, but would expect most business to be done in the summer. Hope the club go down the route of what they said about adding 2 or 3 higher quality players to the squad rather than the recent policy of buying mediocre players, over loading the squad and blocking the pathway for the likes of Valery, Slattery etc.

If the sale of Cedric goes through that would put around £25 million in the transfer kitty including the Gabby money. More importantly it would have freed up around £200k a week in wages along with the loaning of Hoedt and Davis.
We only got about £2.5m up front for Gabbi with the rest in the summer when they buy him outright
According to the records I have, Cedric is on £65k pw so with everyone going we have Gabby on £80k pw, Hoedt on £60k and Steve Davis on £60k pw. Assuming my information is correct and we are not helping out with the players wages we are saving up to £265k pw
If you also look at our other loanees we have Jordie Classie on £50k pw, Sofie Anne on £65k pw and Corrillio on £65k pw which is another £180k pw
Shocking when you look at that list

Looks like a determined effort to get our outgoings under control and clear the decks for the summer.

Can’t argue with that, as Dark Lord said in the post above, our squad/wages are literally shocking.

If we stay up it will be a job well done. This sort of wage structure is what crippled Aston Villa/Sunderland etc. - poor players on big money
