Hmm slightly, although our income base is significantly higher at this point with those wages, than their income was with similar wages, so whilst slightly hamstrings us, doesn’t make us nearly out of business.

Go down and it’s possible, but there’s still likely takers for some on the same wages

But come the summer, we're possibly faced with Cedric, Hoedt, Clasie, Boufal, Carrillio all returning. It's only a temporary clear out.

As far as I can think, across this transfer window and last, Gabbi and Tadic the only players we've actually sold. And I didn't want to sell Tadic. (Although with Davis' contract up, he won't be returning.)

I'm completely relaxed about letting Cedric go. But sell him (which would include a loan with obligation to buy). Don't just loan him, and delay the issue for 6 months - at which point his contract has less time on it, thus reducing his value.

I also suspect that with many of those loans - Davis especially - we're still covering some of the wages.

Surely to complete the process we need to send Fraser somewhere on loan, even if we pay most of his wages we would still be saving money.
 
I see no reason why we would look to loan out Cedric. He has played on and off the last few weeks with Bertrand out and I see no reason for leaving ourselves without decent cover in a crisis unless he is sold. A loan would only save us six months' wages and perhaps some kind of small fee but not really worth the gamble.

From what I've heard....it's not just Saints saving money...Ralph really would prefer to concentrate on a smaller squad. As said before, players not playing take up more of the manager's time than those that do. He wants to work with a small (but sufficient) committed group.

He’s said it enough times. Even in his Sky interview.

He said you can’t give enough attention, have well organised sessions if you’ve got 30 people turning up.

Equally; he doesn’t want people on the fringes dragging their arses (and their egos) around. Motivation and togetherness is important and you don’t get that by having a bunch of hangers on who would rather be elsewhere.

Hence trimming the squad.
 
Surely classies contract will be up soon?
I thought Barcelona were sniffing around Cedric a while ago?
Carillo is a major problem. Could Ralph transform him as he has with some of our under-achievers?
 
All five of Cedric's career goals are on Youtube somewhere, but you have to look in some obscure Sporting CP/Portuguese youth videos that I can't remember now.
Also he is a member of two chivalrous orders!! One for winning Euro 2016 and the other for being runner up in the 2011 U20 World Cup.

Hoedt is 99% done with Saints as is Cedric
