His ex girlfriend has been saying that she doesn't think it's an accident, and it's the "soccer mafia", otherwise why would the search have been suspended etc. I realise she's in distress, but I'm not sure that's particularly helpful.

(Mind you, that's on the press too. They don't have to report what she's saying).
 
I wonder if he sent that message prior to take off? If he did then you have to wonder why he got on the plane/it was allowed to take off. I'm assuming that he sent it in mid flight
Said in L'Equipe that he sent it prior to the flight. Obviously a bit facetious at the time or he wouldn't have got in the plane. I do wonder who arranged this....a night flight in a small plane?!

Certainly begs the question, doesn’t it? I’m sure it was his decision, but there are plenty of scheduled flights for that route and single engine over the channel at night in the middle of January is, perhaps, not the best plan. Dreadful news and so sad for the families of both him and the pilot.
