And in a no deal Brexit RR, they can fly to Ireland, and then walk into the UK. So why is no deal a good idea?
The comments was that it’s getting into American stats over there now. At the moment, it’s easier to smuggle a person into this country than 200 ***s. Yes we’ve got customs etc but a free movement between the Irish border will only intensify the figures to get in rather than reduce it. A majority of the leave votes was purely based on immigration and that is not going to get better. It never was and never will but to basically leave the back door open is worse. All this WW2 references I have heard since the vote are plain silly. We didn’t actually win the war purely on our own it was a bit of a joint effort with other Europeans. After the war ended the whole of Europe had to get up and start again as Adolf didn’t leave it as he found it. I respect the vote and want to get on with it. I’m more pissed off with two daft leaders of the main parties arguing rather than thinking let’s work for Britain. May can’t be told as she won’t listen, and Corbyn will meet all these past terrorist but not the leader of the opposition.
In all seriousness, who can answer the question? Maybe those who want a no deal Brexit are going to have to accept that they can't have it unless they want uncontrolled immigration or a border...
I don’t personally know many people who voted in favour of Brexit - probably because I work in Financial Services and Mrs R&W is a teacher - both professions tended towards Remain. Of those few that I DO know, immigration was the primary reason, followed closely by the ‘unelected gravy train’ reason. All of them thought at first that the EU would be falling over themselves to offer us a great deal - because they want to sell us all their goods. It’s not that they wanted - or didn’t want - a no-deal Brexit - it just simply didn’t register as a possibility. As I said, I don’t know many Brexiteers personally, so this may not be an accurate reflection - it’s quite possible that most Brexiteers are very happy with No Deal - I cant speak for them - I simply don’t know. As to a second referendum; if it happens then I will vote in it. If it doesn’t - I won’t. However I just want this whole thing to end, so I can get on with my life.
52% of the country who did vote wanted out. Very simple do it. If a second referendum was too be called the middle class will uprise like never seen before. Respect the vote and do what was voted for.
Just out of interest~ National result Here's the result from Sky's national poll. please log in to view this image
Joking aside it’s more or less ‘evens’ - I worry that our society could be tarnished by this forever - particularly if there IS a second referendum which Remain wins - that really frightens me - and I’m a remainer!
TM is talking to and apparently sent at least 3 letters to JC who still seems to think if he screws it up he will get a second referendum or a GE either way the whole country at the hands of Labour as has been the norm!
I think it's harsh to blame Corbyn on this. He offered Theresa May help back in September and she was having none of it. Now she needs help and he's refusing her. Can we just agree that both have been equally ****?
I don’t think Corbyn wants a second referendum - he’s a Brexiteer! He just wants May to screw it up, so that he and future Labour leaders can blame the Tories for ever more for the mess.
Very interesting reading as I'm quite possibly moving back to the UK in about 3 months time, so probably not the best timing....
Interesting! At this rate I'll be moving straight to Ireland . Though if you're unlucky enough to 'only' be eligible for a UK passport you're unlikely to have that option.
I’ve had a few pints of Guinness in my time - and I’ve been to Ireland too - does that qualify me for an Irish passport? I asked my German friends if I could utilise Merkel’s Open Door policy and get a German one, but apparently ‘Open Door’ doesn’t apply to Brits!!
