Cédric aint that bad. Good going forward (was) but his defensive frailties have been shown up by the fact that the rest of our defence is ****.

Let’s be honest who can we buy for 15m, proven PL fullback?

We couldnt. But we have also shown that using a youth academy player can get better results than using a "proven" right back (Cedric).

So we could end up selling 5 players this month, Crazy amount. Just need to re-invest correctly.

I agree with your point and analysis, and I hope he is able to have an influence on buying players. The general feeling about January purchases is that they are more risky than later in the summer, so I don’t want the board or manager under undue pressure to sign anyone other than they are better than we currently have and can fit the new and exciting tactics.

He was bloody good though and that goal he scored was amazing but unlike Martina he wasn't a one goal wonder.

he's also too short. We must have had the tiniest team in the premiership last year

"Peak Midget" must have been 2016, when we also had Clasie, Reed, Juanmi

Long isnt that tall either. I remember playing some teams and they were so much taller and physical than our bunch of wimps

But they were our wimps :)

Long is apparently 5 11" , maybe its his scampering Jack Russell approach that makes him seem like a shorty?

Shane Long is 5'11" for the same reason that people have spent two decades telling my 5'10" self that I'm at least 6 foot: no one wants to be 5'9". Unless you're 5'6".

Ralph pointed out that we need to buy for the future as well as now, so no sticking plaster purchases. 100% agree with him, but it may mean that the selling now clears the board a bit for the summer...may not result in any purchases in this window if no one is available now or we have an eye on someone available in the summer.

You don’t have to buy now. Clear some out and get loans in to the send of the season. This also allows us to see if they are likely to be any good. Not sure how comfortable I’d be if we clear out then wait til the summer.
