Then you're comparing chalk and cheese mate, which is what HIAG alluded to the other day when we had a similar conversation. I also know the owner of a local venue that won't book bands that play in pubs because he charges an entrance fee. He believes that he offers a more professional setup with a sound man etc. and charges accordingly. He says that he can't charge punters on a Saturday, if they have played a pub without an entrance fee the week before.
battle of the **** bands ffs
vegans v wizards
What sort of music are you into comm ?I blame @brb for letting the tedious **** back
Loads mate..my first love is ska/skinhead....but it's a very fine line as i love psychobilly..rockabilly, more so the former. What sort of music are you into comm ?

then on the other hand i like the likes of AD/DC, slipknot, metallica..
I just can't stand RAP ****

Not in my experience. We tell the venue what we charge and then negotiate from there. The only gigs where there's a set fee are the big festivals where there are lots of bands and the organisers have got a set payment structure. Maybe it's different for you, but we wouldn't do it for £300, unless like I said it was in a mate's barn for a party.

I do not know what your experience is.
Me, I have played hundreds of gigs over the past seven years in this part of the country, and bands get paid what venues pay.
That's how it was when I used to gig all over London .
I'm calling you out on this. Sorry.
We do a couple of pub gigs for £300 because we love the venues. Mostly, we charge more. We play a lot of clubs, and they pay more.
There are a couple of tribute acts on our circuit who reputedly charge £1500 per gig. I don't know if that's true. In any event, they don't get booked very often, and when they do they bring at least 100 punters with them.
No doubt we could put our rate up to something similar, but we'd alienate 90% of our venues.
I don't play for the money, I play because I want to play. The £100 (on average) per gig that I get is pocket money for me.
What are you calling me out on exactly in that garbled post mate ?TBH, I'm not sure how and why you charge what you do, but HIAG is closer to the mark with what typical pub bands charge. I am friendly with the landlord of a local venue that books bands all through the year and the typical costs are between £300-£400. The only time it gets anywhere near 4 figures is a New Year's Eve gig?
Obviously the pro outfits charge more, but as HIAG has said previously, you pay to see them.

that's very Specials, Beat, Selecter stuff.I used to play in a Ska band when I first started playing in bands down here. Mainly covers, tunes like Message to Rudi, Train to Skaville etc. Love a bit of Rockabilly too. I'm not into metal though, closest thing I like to that is Faith no More or Primus.
The stuff the band I'm in now play is a mixture of Funk, Latin, Afrobeat, Soul. You'd hate it![]()
Your bullshit online persona is the only thing that got destroyed, you plum.
Get some new material ffs, as when you are funny it is really funny

I also love hardcore punk, it's a small margin between them all which i prefer...
Yep Two tone, Specials, Ska, plus a mixture of original stuff.
I'm a big fan of The Dead Kennedy's but never really got into Punk in a big way.
