Stephen Davis off to Rangers. Good move for all as he still has plenty to offer at that level, will enjoy being back there and we get another off the wage bill.

Should have happened in the summer though.

Will always remember the day I was in the pub when he scored against City on our PL return and some poor young lad in front of us had about 3 pints poured over his head during the celebration. Good times .

This rumour has been around a while....fuelled by a real desire by Rangers to get Davis. Have things moved on? I like Davis and he has been a good servant to Saints, but I suppose the one thing in the favour of this being true is that very few other players are saleable.

Talk that we are after 2 players familiar to RH (Selke and Upamecano)….hands up anyone who thinks we have 45 million to spend.

Thought not.

His release clause is 100m euro so that 45 wouldn’t even get half of of upemecano. Oddly, RB probably not in need of too much money, nor do they seem to think selling their best young talent is a good way to get their goal of winning the German League.

Rather doubt he’ll go on strike to force a move either!

Upamencano isn't a realistic target, unfortunately. He'll be sold to one of Europe's elite for the better part of £40m in the summer.

Sad times.. he has been great for us.

I wonder how much wage space that will free up?

Probably not too much. I'd imagine we will be covering a fair chunk of his contract for the remainder of the season as he was due to leave in the summer anyway.

On the other side of the coin he’s not what we need either. Someone who’s been there, done it and can grab a few of his own players by the shirt and shake some sense into them. That’s what’s needed.

With Gomez out as well looks like Livepool will need to shop in the next window....

As we have seen this season....very important!
this is a running joke with me. Why do we need 6ft 5 centre backs when they are continually beaten in the air by 5ft 10 forwards who can jump and run in front of them when we could have some skillful players instead? Come the revolution it will be Pep who gets the credit!

I will for one thank the man for what he did in his time for us.......I know he had his doubters.

He was a quality, quality player for us. He played the game in a simplified, yet magnificent way. Hugely under valued by many, but in his first four seasons with us he was critical to what we did. The modern fans who read the stats, needed to read the game... just like Stevo did.
