First match at the stadium? If it's anything like SJP which I assume it is, you just need to drive round till you find a suitable street to park up on

It costs around 8-9 quid. The traffic out is an absolute nightmare, it can take up to an hour to get out!
I usually park up and walk to the stadium when im driving.

I think you have me wrong, I have a parking spot near the ground but I get there at 12 to get it. I'm thinking of buying a parking spot so I can get there later but the getting out is a concern.

Ah well if you don't mind paying out a tenner then yeah get one near the ground, but plan to sit in your car for half an hour after the game while the crowds clear. I know guys who try and push their way through the crowds at the end and end up with a couple of dents and a window out

Why not park at the University on Chester Road, get the metro across to St Peter's station and then a two minite walk to the stadium. When you get the Metro back it saves you getting stuck in all the traffic.

If you stay to the end of each game as you obviously want too then by the time you get to your car the barrier will be down and you can't get out, then you have to fight through all the traffic in the surrounding area to get out, find somewhere else Syd and save the cash.

Syd, the SoL car park costs a bomb and it's 20 -30 min before you're allowed out. If you want a pay spot, then closest is the Retail Park (£4) and just a bit further up St Peters Metro (£4). Both are no more than 5 mins walk from the SoL even at slow matchday crowd pace. You'll get parking in either right the way up to 3 mate!!

I have a good spot, had it years, its free and right next to the ground but I have to get there at 12 to get it. Was just looking at getting a spot at the ground to get there later but you have talked me out of it.

Syd, I think where I park is nigh on perfect mate and very cheap. £2 to park in the bowling alley car park and if you turn up at 2pm or even 2.30pm you should get parked nee bother. Also the retail car park situated right next to it is only £3. It's only a 2 minute walk to the ground aswell...

I always park near Roker Park (the park, not the site of the old ground) and never have much of a problem unless it's pissing down, because it's a bit of a walk (10 mins?).

Reminds me about Level 42, Tiz, the old 80s band. Just that I was on Level 45 before they re-jigged the site and it's back to Level 42 again...

If i ever drive to the game, i park in the terraces at Southwick facing towards Thompson Road, it's a 5 min walk to the SOL, and you get out before the traffic builds up.

I always park in the streets opposite the hospital. Its about 10 mins walk but thats fine unless its pissing down then walk down past the chippy and down the backstreets to bring you out at the colliery tavern have a quick pint and go to the game. Normally get there about 2ish and theres usually a few spots to park in. Some of the locals get pissed off (understandably) and put wheely bins in some of the parking spots to stop you parking there though.
