In lovely middle class Leamington Spa last night my son and a (black) mate were on the way to another mates to watch the Fury fight when they were attacked by six white men. One of them bit half of my son’s ear off, saying ‘that’s for having ******s for friends’. Also, of course, they were robbed. Anaesthetised by booze and Adrenalin the lads went on to see the fight only to realise how damaged they were when they sobered up.
Both lads spent most of the day in Warwick A&E, with broken ribs and his mate has a broken nose. After which the lad turned up at our place, because his phone was smashed in the fracas. Now we have to take the boy to Coventry A&E as the plastic surgeons want to see him urgently. The fact that I will miss the Alabama 3 gig tonight is of no importance, compared to the impotent fury I feel. My son is no stranger to trouble and injury, but was entirely innocent for this one. He is in shock because he is not used to being beaten up but relieved that no knives were involved. FFS.
I feel sick, but at least I know what a hate crime really is now.

Truly awful - hope all's well with your son. Unlikely that the culprits will ever be caught, or charged if they are, which only makes it worse - total ****s. Think I'd be trawling the streets with a baseball bat if it happened here.

Anderson shared the song's lyrics, which include lines like: "Say, what's in this drink?", "I really can't stay / Baby don't hold out" and "I ought to say no, no, no / Mind if I move in closer?" The woman also wonders aloud what others might think of her if she stays.
Written in 1944, the song rose to popularity in the 1949 film "Neptune's Daughter." It was sung between Esther Williams and Ricardo Montalbán's characters, and then by Betty Garrett and Red Skelton, who reversed the roles.
The song was written by popular Broadway composer Frank Loesser, who originally performed it as a humorous number with his wife. But the lyrics, in today's context, have taken on somewhat more sinister connotations. That's f*cking outrageous and a sad indictment of how far this country still has to go to eradicate this Neanderthal behaviour. No doubt drink/drugs were probably involved by the perpetrators but that's no excuse, they've behaved like animals and need to be caught. As you say it's thankful knives weren't involved but little consolation. Hope they both recover but the psychological scars may take a lot longer. All the best to you all...

In Coventry A&E now, packed on a Sunday night, waiting for the plastic surgeon to show up.
Police gave the boy an incident number and told him not to wash his blood stained clothes and to come back and give a statement when the doctors are finished with him. His mate will be doing the same. The attack happened at 3.00 am and the ****s were of course all hoods up. What worries me is the wife walks the dog round where it happened quite late at night when I am away for work.
Despite my liberal credentials sometimes I feel that a purge of the gene pool would be welcome.
