Now then Cyc me ole Aussie sporting reporter, what's going on with the Bledisloe Cup and the lack of competition here...!! Yet again, and for the last 16 years now, the All Blacks have whooped the Green n Golds to submission to send them back over the Taz sea with their tails between their legs... Are the Aussie public starting to get a little bit pissed at the one sidedness of these matches now or are they just going to celebrate their first series win over them like it's 1999 to quote Prince...!! Must be getting harder and harder to build the comp up for viewing figures if you already know what's going to happen...?!?!
It's a torture every year Red. As each rolls around, the press try building up our hopes with all manner of bullshit, but they're not fooling anyone. One press idiot fronted an All Black coach before the series started and asked if the Kiwis thought that this was Australia's year. He had a shocked look on his face at first then began to laugh. Pretty sad really.
Most of you have already seen yesterday's Man.U vs Spurs game, I'm sure, but managed to get a few highlights on YouTube/Davey Entertainment. Don't know who the hell Davey Entertainment are but just love the foreign commentary in this clip. Brilliant! Thanks to YouTube and Davey! Oh s**t, now unavailable, "Removed By The User". Oh well.
The 'Red Devils' have been in my bad books since Barcelona in May 1999 so any difficulty which arrives at their door is gleefully felt in this corner of FC Bayernland! I realise that schadenfreude is an unpleasant quality in a human being but, fu*k, nobody's perfect! On the matter of perfection I have just had second thoughts.
It looks as though Usain Bolt might be on the bench for the Central Coast Mariners this Friday. The New South Wales, A League team will take on an amateur side in a preseason friendly. Coach Mike Mulvey has stated that Bolt has some rudimentary skills and may get some minutes in the game. He'll be on the wing.
I loved watching this race. It was brilliant. The Women's 5000m looked a race in three on paper. The great Genzebe Dibaba, Hellen Obiri and Safan Hassan all looking to take out the famous Zurich race. Dibaba proved to be short a run or two which left the race to Obiri and Hassan.
England effectively 9 for 2 in the 4th Test in Southampton. Cook and Moeen gone. This looks to be a very close series but I'm totally underwhelmed. England's batting line up is fragile at best, some of the inclusions and omissions from the home side beggar belief - like dropping the Man of the Match from the 2nd test for the 3rd Test. Then there is the sparseness of the crowds which is very concerning for the future of the longer format. 20/20 is garbage in comparison as far as I'm concerned.
Hearts win again (league leaders for another three weeks at least), the Hi-Bees stuffed, the 'ammers lose for the fourth time in a row, Dortmund drop two points last night ....................... just gimme a FC Bayern win and I'll be a happy and contented wee boy!
It looks as though with Usain Bolt gone, others are now stepping up to claim the number one spot. Noah Lyles blistered around the 200m a couple of days ago, now Christian Coleman has put up his hand. The title of the clip is bullshit, it's the equal 7th best of all time, but world lead for the year.
The Brussels men's 5000m was an amazing race. No runner this year had run a sub 13 minutes race, but it all exploded in this event when 8 men ran under the mark. A sensational race. Too bad the field events sometimes got in the way.
I realise it is 'bad form' to reply to your own post. I think I saw FC Bayern's finest Bundesliga performance last night since some of the best in Josep Guardiola's second season with the club. Strong, safe, varied and quicker movement from back to front and pressing from front to back. I have to admit that Stuttgart are not top 'European' quality however they had a very good home record in the Bundesliga stretching back to January 2018. So far I am very happy with Noco Kovac. Now for the unleashing of the sectarian hate which those outside the borders of Scotland still seem so enthusiastic about. Although the behaviour, thanks to a 12.00 kick off on a Sunday and the improved policing, is not as bad as it once was this display by a large minority on each side of the divide makes recent days and nights in Chemnitz look like a children's Christmas Party. Do not be fooled by the minimalist reporting by the Glasgow based written media and the near blindness from the TV and Wireless output this is still a hate fest which affects all strata of Scottish and Northern Irish society. The national disgrace?
I've seen barely any discussion on the UEFA Nations League - any views? My starter for 10 is "load of old bollocks".
