This is such a good post and sums up my own feelings, now that I have had time to calm down. I was there and am just back home, after taking a detour on my way back to Somerset. We did play well for 40 minutes and, with a decent goal-scorer, we could have gone in ahead. Over the 90 minutes, Baptiste was, indeed, the best of modest bunch. After the first goal, and particularly after the second, our heads didn't just go down, they nearly fell off the players' shoulders. I saw McClaren interviewed and he claimed our Plan B was to "go more direct" and he instructed the players accordingly at half time. Therefore, he should take the blame for such an awful second half tactic. However, I think it is ludicrous that so many fans have already jumped on the "McClaren Out" bandwagon. Despite my deep embarrassment and burning anger at recent performances, I am going to give him a decent crack at turning things round. As some have admitted, we lost some good players over the Summer and failed to fill the biggest vacancy, a decent goal-scorer. None of us so clever fans knows how hard The Board and Management tried on that score and why we failed. Am I so much cleverer than SLF or Lee Hoos? I don't think so: they knew it, too, and would have been working hard within our financial constraints to fix the all-too-obvious problems. As even the Sun can see (above), the poor man (McClaren) has taken on a basket case and he needs our support, not the sort of vitriol that has been pouring out in recent days. Those so-called fans should be ashamed. At this stage of the season, the players and management need - and deserve - our support. With Wells and Hemed now on board, we need to get behind the team and not crumble at the first sign of trouble. As RTID says, Ollie had two runs of 6 consecutive defeats (out of 3 in our entire history) and we're still in the Championship. So, lighten up guys and let's all be a bit more positive.
If it were true they’d have done it after the second relegation and the failure to go straight back up.
Great post I would like to however one point to it . Turn it around? To me he had a fresh start he came into our club with plenty of time to get things right ... not sure he has turned anything yet that wasn’t his own doing Bit of straw grabbing me thinks and it’s not just the -11 goals. We have been thrashed in footballing terms. You can turn a turd but it’s still a turd Still new players in means an extension in turning it. Heading in the wrong direction is the fault of the man with the map and it’s currently upside down imo
There is no proof that anyone has worked hard or hasn’t worked at all. Results are all that matters off the pitch. My snapshot inside the club was shocking I think they actually believe themselves The club has been run in a manner not fit for purpose and the facts cannot be masked anymore. Anyone read the official website copy ... the tone of voice is dreadful as if the powers that be are intentionally covering up. I think it’s time that we all unite against this and that is happening on this forum No place for fluff if you are angry then it’s natural accept the energy as a force imo Don’t bulllshit yourself into getting all yoda This is where we are ... the bottom maybe who knows ? Imo not a time to get all logical and zen out ... I used to do that until I realised where we are heading Anger is an energy 3 points against Wigan Good performance Minimum Requirements imo or he goes and we don’t waste anytime with him learning football. I hope he is hung out to dry Ask Newcastle or Forest fans in fact I may do that now
Some odd thinking going on amongst some of our colleagues. Mittal bought a 30% share from his friends, Ecclestone and Briatore, who are both criminals. He had never been to the club, had no interest in football, so I can only assume that it was a gift for his new son in law, and a much cheaper gift than the wedding he paid for. So, as a significant shareholder he sat and watched while Fernandes et al make mistake after mistake, presumably supported by Bhatia, until the cost became a little irritating. Then he took his shareholding down to 11% (Again, presumably gave them to the others, because having shares in QPR is a liability not an asset, it exposes you to having to shell out to keep the place going. The shares have no actual value, quite the reverse). If I remember correctly Mittal also got some of what he had loaned the club paid back, unlike the others. Doesn’t smack of a long term strategy to own the club at all to me. More of a half hearted attempt to get out of it. If you want to own something you don’t reduce your stake in it. If you want it to be successful you don’t let a bunch of fools run wild in managing it. Mittal has zero interest in QPR, we are a rounding error on his accounts, Bhatia is Fernandes’ mate and completely complicit in where we are today. And where we are today means we are dependent on their goodwill to keep bunging a few extra quid in every month to pay the bills. We are stuck with them unless there are even bigger idiots out there.
Asked the lads on the Newcastle board with a new thread They had started one already doesn’t look like he is appreciated
Very good post but totally disagree about supporters should feel ashamed and that they deserve our support! These players probably earn more in a couple of weeks than I do in a year. I haven't called for Steve's head, at present I would call for some of the players heads first. WE as fans DESERVE more from them than they do from us. 7-1 just remember that scoreline. I will continue to spend my money which is more hard earned than theirs, to travel and support my team, all I ask is that we don't roll over and collapse!!
Well you can always pick up your hawk and get on the spread £600 a day? I am at last on finishing render
https://www.not606.com/threads/help-us-please.366435/#post-12060885 Uber for manager Mustard Slacks ... nice
I pick up my hawk most days mate and just coach on 3 evenings a week now. Became dissolutioned with Football and where it's going. The prices quoted to do my UEFA 'a' were beyond ridiculous and with no guarantee of a better post for doing it. But 600 a day DT....come on now
The Mittals were instrumental in bringing in Warnock. My recollection is that Mittal wanted to buy out Eccles and Briatore, but pissed them off by preempting their decision to sell. They went off to find an idiot with lots of money to waste and found Fernandes. As you say, Mittal sat as a minority shareholder under Fernandes, but as mismanagement continued, got frustrated (who wouldn't?) and reduced his stake. There may or may not be a residue of Mittal interest in buying the club if Tony and Ruben bail out. Given Amit's continued interest and current role, I'd say Mittal interest could be revived.
In an ideal world I’d like a fresh pair of eyes looking all over the administration of the club. Some tough no-nonsense chairman-cum-owner that’s maybe done it before. Perma-tanned is optional.
Seems to me, to be a successful football owner, you need a high degree of cynicism to go with the ambition, to deal with player's demands particularly through their agents and demands from unrealistic managers. The Mittals would fit that category from what I've seen. At the moment, we have wealthy and unworldly owners, who are still prepared to throw money at the problem to mask their managerial shortcomings, but can't due to football regulations.
Don't get me wrong, I was as mad as hell during Tuesday's second half, so much so that I left in disgust before the end of the match (after the third goal), probably for the first time ever. Having calmed down now, I think they deserve our support in the sense that the team was weakened by the Summer departures, the lack of recruitment and the time it takes to adopt the very different tactics of a new manager. No matter how much they are paid, players are human: calling them "lazy c***s" or whatever is hardly going to have a positive motivational effect. They deserve our support in that we should give them time before we rush to judgement and try to be more positive. If we get behind the group, and with the new additions, they can get us out of this hole.
Absolutely. From what I’ve seen, the players aren’t at fault. The tactics, team selection and preparation are. I fear the worst though tomorrow against a side fresh from a 3-0 win.
My experience of high net worth individuals - and I work with a great many, but sadly do not rank among them - is that it doesn’t matter how relatively small the sum invested anywhere compared to their overall wealth, they still watch every penny invested like hawks and demand decent management and a decent return. Surely Lakshmi and his entourage haven’t sat on their hands whilst Useless Tony burned their cash? This is such a big thing for me: how the hell could a handful of seemingly intelligent industry moguls **** this club up so spectacularly? In my ideal world I wouldn’t want them anywhere near this club in the future. Fresh administration, fresh eyes, please. Sharpish.
Tony was like a kid in a toy shop and used his managers like experts, when of course, they lacked objectivity and were prepared to spend his money like water to give themselves a better chance of staying in a job. The classic was Hughes who, having bought Rob Green, then decided he would bring Cesar onto the books as well. Tony trusted, and was let down. A more football-experienced owner would have said no to the Cesar purchase. Tony Fernandes seems like a decent bloke, probably too decent for football. Like you, I've reached the conclusion we'd be better off with different owners. Sure, there could probably be worse owners. Asset strippers. But that's not a great test, is it?
I read somewhere an interview with Swiss Tony where he said he kept in regular contact with all the ex managers employed under his regime with the exception of Hughes who he hadn't spoken with since the day he left the club Hughes really is a mercenary
