QPR have a point to prove when facing Bristol City this evening under the lights at Loftus Road.

The R’s suffered an embarrassing 7-1 defeat at the Hawthorns on the weekend and will undoubtedly be looking for an improved performance against a Bristol City team searching for their first win of the campaign.

Tonight will be a big test of the character of the QPR squad as they look to pick up their first points of the season.

A week ago the Hoops defeated Peterborough in the League Cup and a similar performance, albeit against stronger opposition tonight, is something that will be required.

The Robins were defeated 2-0 by Middlesbrough on the weekend and have endured a challenging start to the season. They have drawn two games and lost one but it’s the late departures of some of their key players that has perhaps hurt Lee Johnson’s side the most.

Joe Byran, Bobby Reid and Aden Flint - three pivotal members of a City team that finished 11th in the Championship last season have all departed. Additionally, even this early in the season, City have somewhat of an injury crisis with seven players side-lined for this clash and one suspended.

This fixture last season ended in a 1-1 draw and the Robins have not won in any of their last 15 visits to Loftus Road.

Manager Quotes
Steve McClaren: "This is the Championship, one game after the other, and it is about how you get over disappointments and setbacks. We need to show a reaction and hopefully, we do that and give something back to the supporters that we didn’t give them on Saturday. The players know that wasn’t acceptable and they have just got to put it right. We all do, we are all responsible.”

Dean Holden (Assistant): “We’ve got a great game on Tuesday night down at QPR. It will be a good atmosphere and we are taking a decent following down. They are a wounded animal QPR, obviously, they got a hiding at the weekend so no doubt they will be looking for a reaction.”

Not seen it mentioned on here but in case people didnt know all games are under the "Red Button" on Sky tonight. Sky boasting that all midweek rounds of fixtures being shown live, allegedly means approx approx 10 games a season

Yeah I saw this mentioned after the Liverpool game last night.
Handy.

Some ominous stats to break tonight -
  • QPR are unbeaten in their last 16 home games in all competitions against Bristol City (W9 D7) since a 1-0 defeat in April 1977.
  • Bristol City have not kept an away league clean sheet at QPR since August 2001, when goalkeeper Mike Stowell did so.
