How can McCalamity be an upgrade if his talent has gone, unless you believe Ollie had no talent whatsoever (which would be unfair)? This might be one of those episodes where we’re **** for months and then it all clicks, the players get used to the system and each other, then become world-beaters, with McCalamity being hailed as a genie’s arse. These things do happen, but who actually believes it’s possible under the Wally with the Brolly? I’m getting nostalgic about Jimmy Floyd’s brief tenure when we had a team set up to lose 1-0 each week. Oh, how I yearn for those kind of results right now. According to the Beeb this is QPR’s worst ever start to a season... and we’ve had the likes of Hughes, Magilton, Dowie, Ramsey & P.Hart at the helm!* Records are tumbling under the stewardship of this has-been. (*I’m sure somebody will point out that not all of the above presided over the start of a season, but you get my point)
Steve speaks - "We've been working behind the scenes to bring signings in and we expect one or two before Saturday. I believe if we get the right players in we'll be OK." "The message to the supporters, and it's a difficult one, is patience. Am I determined to put this right? Yes." Any indication of when Steve?
There were plenty worse than Washington last night imo. What did you make of the chance that he set up for Eze? I had a row with the fella in front of me when he blamed Washington for not scoring himself. The way I saw it (from a distance), he nicked it past the keeper and had a tight angle to goal, so picked out Eze who had an open-goal tap in - which he fluffed. It must have been right in front of you, how did you see it?
Did Jimmy Floyd put a smile on your face? Uber, your a hard but fair man. You make a valid point. I remember it took Dear Uncle Arry many moons to get the team to gel only for his knees to fail him and us when we needed his weaving of his magic wand. Yes, it is our worst start but hey, we’re all about creating records, we should rebadge and call ourselves the Virgin Record Rangers. If only Richard Branson would buy us, we could fly our senior management to the other side of the world with a one way ticket. Your yearning for Jimmy Floyd has me speed dialing your local doctor as we speak. Can l suggest a liquid form of medicine in the shape of a wink cask? The mere mention of Hughes, Hart & Dowie in the same sentence has me reaching for your wine cask! Until we lose again, all the best. Aussie
Exe probably should have scored but Washington over hit the pass slightly so that it wasn't the tap in it should have been.
Oh it's my fault we have a ****e team, play ****e football and the club is a total mess! If only I hadn't travelled to all those away games last season, we may have won. I really should have realised that paying out 130k a week on two keepers (green & caesar) was not financially or logically realistic. I do apologise to all the fans, or wasn't Tony and co....it was me!
Another thing which other people have also said is ....we ( last night's team) are not young and experienced. Eze is the only young player. Even Ingrams is 25 and had played a good number of games for Wycombe... All the good work Ollie had done blooding youngsters has gone out the window Manning is on loan, BOS appears to be on compassionate leave, Furlong injured...Kakay is a scapegoat....Smythe, Chair, Oteh are not even getting a look in McLaren was sold to us as getting the most out of our youngsters....quite the opposite I think. ...I think that is what I am most angry about this morning. Our youngsters are not getting a look in...and we are being sold a pup in the statement "we need experience". We are not losing because our team is full of kids. Our team is full of experienced pros...I will stick by the premise that last night's team is much better than rock bottom of the championship...no it isn't a promotion winning team...it is an average Championship team..not the worst team in the division but it is certainly acting as the worst team....that can only be down to the staff...and the preparation, the way they have been to told to play, and the team confidence in that plan Yes I'm still angry! I feel better for the rant! Thank you Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
I can't remember the last time we actually played football, as in retaining the ball for more than 3 or 4 passes. Regardless of manager, when a team doesn't have good enough players then it will generally struggle at any level it competes in. I watched the Swansea v Leeds game last night, there isn't one single QPR player who would get in either of their match day squads, not even on the bench. Hoping that Bassong or even Collins will make a difference is pure hopefulness and nothing else. Wells up top might add a goal here or there but who is going to create these openings for him. We lack ability, creativity and ideas. The manager/coach can help with the latter but unfortunately not the formers.
No. We were yelling at him to square it earlier. A better player would have rolled it into Eze's path sooner imo.
You are being very generous by describing us as an average championship team Beth. We were closer to average with smithies, Robinson and onohua.
My point is ....we are not even playing to the level of our ability...The first halves on Saturday and Tuesday we were in the game...and with someone who could score we probably would have been leading.. Then we disintegrated...and the plan goes to pot...and we play the worse football imaginable. My whole point is...it is not a great team., But it is good enough for mud table mediocrity..but with a decent coach...we should have a few points on the table... and when we lose it should be ,"only just"...and we should be fighting to the end. Wink cask There's the problem right there Young inexperienced team waiting for a cougar to wink at them No wonder Steve wants some experience in the team
He has always lacked composure imo Effort is fine he gets into good positions I would of thought that could of been coached into him by now
I believe in the squad also there is certainly enough there to survive in this league Therefore it has to be the coaching
Abject display. Goals 1 and 3 resulted from our defender falling over. Ingrams was unsighted for the first, but Smithies would have had it. I gave up on Washington long ago, though he did set Eze up who didn't show the confidence to nail it. All our players are playing more ineptly, with less direction and less confidence than last season (and no, I don't want Ollie back) which is down to McClaren. Thanks, Tony, for once again being impressed with a faded " football name" and jumping with the appointment without any real assessment of the alternatives. I don't see McClaren turning it round. If we lose to Wigan on Saturday, we must get shot or any new manager coming in will have a possibly insurmountable mountain to climb even at this early stage of the season.
Ingram is an utter liability. Washington’s ability to consistently cover 30miles in a game yet have less impact than the ball boys is truly a thing of wonder. He has to go, surely? What happened to Sodipo? Why on earth did we loan out Manning (to a superior team).
I could go on for hours about last night and I agree with a lot of the comments here. Keeping my head down today as I live in Bristol and Im expecting some clog. However, one thing that I could not help but notice is that the players were not talking to each other. No player telling another where to be or go. No player geeing others up. Heads just went down and not one voice to be heard. We were like this last season but its worse now. We need a voice out there
