I don't know about Vietnam but in most countries its hard to open a bank account without some evidence of residency there. Not sure how it works in EU countries.
Exactly, so if the club or the provider are restricting it to foreign bank accounts they are likely to miss out on possible business. P.S. I guess you could get a friend who lives in the country to do it for you.
Well the point is only to get people who actually live overseas. If it was about maximizing business they wouldn't exclude the UK.
There are a lot of people who work away, like me for an extended period, who would like to still see games. It is excluding these sort of supporter.
The club have no option but to exclude the UK, EFL rules prevent Saturday 3.00pm games from being streamed here. It's to prevent people from streaming here using a VPN, but they can illegally stream it anyway, so it's a bit pointless and it stops people from who are genuinely wanting to stream a game while on holiday from doing so.
So in theory if a family member had a foreign bank account to pay for an account then the VPN route in the UK could be feasible. In theory I must stress, not that i'd ever do this.
Just looking at the terms for signing up to this thing and you can set up bank payments, pay by card, or via PayPal, so it probably will be possible to access the service using a VPN.
paypal makes it pretty easy to pay then they have anti vpn technology, but just uses common vpn ips might try it for sheff wed game
I'm not being sarcy BrAdY, but did you mean isp ? Never come across ips ! ps: The Paypal facility is not yet available. amg has been talking about if for over a year !!
I was responding to a poster who was suggesting they were being silly and missing out on potential business, I was making the point it's not about potential business as they can't show it in the UK anyway.
Your last point John. If you know someone abroad who's subscribing, and both you and him/her have Skype and a decent videocam at the sending end...bingo you have it. HDMI PC to TV connection at both ends would give you great results (I would imagine ).
I spoke with the club yesterday and they said it doesn't matter about me using a UK bank account. If I am out of the country when then stream is on that's all that matters!
Yea, I did take it with a pinch of salt. I bought a months pass on Monday for the Villa game and that didn't work (they said because it was on Sky) and I am in Spain tomorrow so i'll find out then!
Plenty of pissed off subscribers already, it turns out this service only works on a computer, phones and tablets can't access it.
There are other issues. I signed up last week & managed to get the audio commentary (Burnsey etc). Tried to sign up for the Video this week. Won't let me do it. (Using a PC). I sent them e-mails with clear questions. They sent me back answers that were totally irrelevant to my questions. It's criminally remiss to launch a service without testing all functions that have been advertised.
Not that surprising to be honest, no different to last season on other services I believe. Has worked perfectly for me so far.
I think anyone expecting a perfect service in the first game was naive. Every other club had bugs the first few games last season. I've had none but if others have had some it's unfortunate. I'd hope they could develop an app for next season to use on phones, tablets, gaming consoles etc, but it would need to see decent return from the website access currently available.
Syd, do you think it would be ok to sell a house that's been built on quicksand ? Don't expect an answer as I believe you have me on ignore. It is not naive to expect to receive the features/functions that have been advertised and you have paid for, nor to have a system that is incapable of allowing you to change your options.
