A sadly obvious title but hey ho.

I enjoyed the world cup more than I thought I would and a little bit of love came back for the England team. Champion.

However, this is SUNDERLAND, the team I have supported through thick and thin since the early 80's. A club I will support til my dying day. The team has changed through time and we endure a roller coaster ride all of the time.

This summer has absolutely reignited my love for the club after a downward spiral of 5 years or so. Its a new young squad that seems to be full of enthusiasm with players who want to be here, and want to play for the fans. There will be ups and downs I am sure and we must show patience with the new owners, manager and players, but ****ing hell this season has so much potential. I cant wait.

Tomorrow may be difficult. Can you imagine some of these players walking out in front of an enthusiastic 28,000 + crowd for the first time. The occasion may get the better of them, but they will get used to it. I am confident they will play with pride and passion.

It's going to be a fantastic atmosphere, it had improved even when it was dire under Coleman and we were going down so I expect it to be a great place to be tomorrow afternoon.

I'm fully prepared for there to be as many downs as ups this season but I think there will be a lot more of the latter and it's going to be a fun ride.

I just wish we had a fully fit team so we can start the season full strengh, but we cant complain too much because Charlton are missing a few aswell.
Im buzzing for this season aswell, it feels more exciting going into the unknown with optimism rather than half expecting to get tonked every week.
Im taking my lads to their first game against Scunthorpe on the 19th. I went to my first game in the old Division 3 and theyll be doing the same.

A lot of these are young lads so we need the fans to be 100% behind them even if we don't get the start that we are hoping for.

Sadly there are some fans who seem to jump on the first opportunity to get on players backs turning the atmosphere at the SoL toxic so that our own players hate home games. I hope that those "fans" stay at home this season

I can’t add much to the original post and what’s been added since.

Absolutely buzzing for it, so happy and looking forward to that feeling I always used to get as he stadium came into view on my walk of nervous excitement and pride, that I’ve not had for a few years.

Going to the game as I love my club not out of a feeling of duty, treating the whole thing like a rebirth, **** the last 2 years, **** Short, **** the players who didn’t wanna be here and embarrassed the club.

We are lucky in many ways to support a club that really matters, in a country that lives and breathes a game under the clouds of **** we forget that many people support clubs that aren’t as symbolic, as historic and as significant as ours.

I agree with above we have to stay with the team in the first few weeks while we find our feet, not a time for boo-boys or adding pressure to this new team no matter what happens. It’s time for us to stand up. We wanted owners who understood, we wanted a manager who cared. We wanted players who wanted to play for the badge, with pride in the shirt.

We’ve got everything we wished for this summer and now it’s time for us to give what the club needs from us. What we’ve historically been famous for but have lost over the last 5-6 years.

Unconditional love, fierce backing, and a wall of noise. Let’s try and have atmosphere like he Sheff United playoff, the Burnley promotion game, the Chelsea survival game.

We are in League One. Our support can freeze and scare the life out of half the sides in the league if we do it right, and make our little collection of unknowns and hungry young kids walk tall as buildings.

Our away support is like nothing else, but time to make the SOL, an utterly ridiculous venue for this level of football, the biggest weapon in the Arsenal.

Buzzing for it.

It won’t happen because of bars in grounds, but what will be a great first day atmosphere would be really topped off if everyone was in their seat 10 minutes before kick-off and the Roker Roar took off during that period where the players are in place - the ball's on the centre spot - everyone waiting for the ref to blow the whistle - Ha’way, deafening around the whole ground, opposition players trembling, wondering what is happening to them, our lads hearts busting with pride and determination. It’ll still be good like.

I’m gonna try and be in place, I’m one of the guilty ones usually forcing a last piss out 20 seconds before kick off I won’t deny it.
