I always liked Lucas even when others were bashing him.<ok>

Moreno and Lovren are mentioned above... But whereas fans really don't like them and have no confidence in them (Moreno especially)... I don't personally think they get the same hatred as Karius.

I feel like Karius is on a special plain formerly only occupied by people like Voronin and Balotelli. Its not just that people think he's crap.... People REALLY don't like Karius. He is hated.

I mentioned them because of the comparison of Lucas and Karius. They both face(d) a tough road back from the negativity. Same can be said for Lovren and Moreno.

IMO, Lovren can go the Lucas route and recover but Karius and Moreno are ****ed.

wasn't lucas fault as such.

when we brought him i assumed the idea was for him to learn off alonso and mascherano, and shortly after we lost both and lucas was left to get on with it.

it was at a time when we had to make do with what we had and we could have done better, yes we could have had worst but we had no funds to replace him, as much as people want to defend lucas he would have been replaced if we had funds.

dirk was diferent as he ran his socks off and gave his all every game, esp the game suarez got his hatrick, that summed up dirk for me.

Not true. When he was at Gremio he was a AM and that's wider we thought we were getting, that's the role he initially played and failed to deliver in. He reassessed his game and then learnt from those two.

Lucas actually played as many games as those two initially too btw.

just thinking with my dirk comment lol, did i get that wrong way round ie dirk got hatrick but saurez did all the donkey work with no credit?, either way dirk was probably our firmino of today in does donkey work for others.

Dirk usually did the donkey work for us but Suarez did it for the hat-trick

I think to a degree that's already happening with Lovren.

When you have the local journos bigging you up every week, then it’s a lot easier to come back from it. Lovren and Lucas enjoyed that luxury despite putting in the same level of **** performances as the other two.

It all goes back to this - some people are held to other standards. It’s not fair but it pays to be popular.

Easy solution; don't read media bullshit

Karius needs to realize he is very lucky to still be playing the game he loves. I liken his errors to my former employer where a royal **** up lost the organisation a quarter of the profits. The lads responsible were sent home even though it was an honest error. They really struggled to make ends meet for a period of two years before they got a new gig.
He also needs to realize social media is what it is and even in the stadium there will be a few idiots who will insult him. The best thing for him to do is take a back seat work hard and redeem himself. That is the only way to beat the trolls and the doubters.

not that i'm excusing the abuse, but they don't half moan about the slightest thing now days these over paid don't realize how privileged they are footballers.

john barnes and others got a hell of a lot more abuse than what the drama queens put up with today and none of them did **** all wrong!!!! just the colour of their skin ffs!!!!!!

As much as I agree with that, in the past it was only really on matchdays. Nowadays it's 24-7

It wasn't only matchdays though mate. John Barnes got loads of hate mail - obviously back then it came in through the letter box so even less chance to ignore it than not going on twitter.

I realised that but, I would argue it's easier to ignore. Media didn't see it for a start so whatever it said, it remained private rather than all over every media outlet going as happens today.

how can you ignore post that comes through your door if you don't open it up to see what is said?

its easier to ignore now days as you just distance yourself from social media, but such is the ego of players now days they only want to hear all the good things said about them.

and the media did know about it, but chose to ignore most of it sadly.

Yeah, you could have had people take care of mail. sort the actual mail from fan mail and you'd never get a snotty journo that is out for a headline asking about them.

Nowadays everyone is after click bait and are really cheeky in what they will ask someone. Add in the fact that there's a desire to put themselves out there for image and also theres a demand to draw them into comments. fans expect it.

I really don't know how young kids effectively deal with this. We have seen several cases where really old juvenile comments are dredged up and used against them

Oh, I thought we were talking about the individuals themselves getting abuse, not about who else knew about it. My mistake.

As MITO as said, have someone sort your mail
