Sturridge is a talented footballer whose career has been blighted by injury. It's happened to many others. Whether or not he could have helped himself by being stronger mentally is open to debate. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and I hope he finds some way back - either with us or elsewhere.
I don't begrudge him his career after us (I do question if he will have one at all), but I think its time for him to go either this summer or next. As to whether he can play a part in our upcoming season, I say don't count on him nor should he picked ahead of younger better players. I'd rather see Woodburn or Solanke come on than Sturridge, who I don't think fits our style (doesn't work hard enough), doesn't/shouldn't have a future with the club beyond this season and frankly I doubt if he has still got it physically or skilfully.
that's before the hip though. for the record twice. ankle playing for England and hamstring the first month he was here. one good season is all we got. The hip imo is where all the problems come from
All news says he's staying. If a bid came in that may change but who the hell would take that chance?
The news that he’s supposedly staying is probably solely down to the phone not ringing. Plenty of time left yet though, deadline day desperation will likely see someone take a punt.
Last year of his contract, extremely injury prone and hardly played football for the last three years... hardly going to recoup a massive fee is he? I know people will point at the wages but I reckon it'll be cheaper to keep him for one more on those wages than but someone else. The lad should have gone three years ago but I think he'll see out the contract now.
Look with the window closing before the season starts i don't really see anyone desperate enough at that point to buy him. if there was 3 games gone and they lost all 3 and the manager took a punt to save his job or something ok... but you'd have the be nuts.
Fekir update Nabil Fekir will sign for Liverpool on August 4. That is a Liverpool transfer rumour doing the rounds on Twitter with one account responsible. Jean Sebastien lists himself as a French Football Journalist for France 24 and claims Fekir will be on his way to Liverpool this summer. He tweeted: “#Fekir will sign for #LFC on the 4th August.” And, though the authenticity of the account in question is yet to be determined, it has not stopped Liverpool fans from getting extremely excited. @Nick0037 said: “Don’t give me a heart attack please.” In response to this, @Zacharyclose2 said: “It the truth.” @ScottLewis73 then added: “Fingers crossed.” Others, however, chose to lambast Sebastien and accuse him of making the rumour up. @NabysHouse tweeted: “Fake fake fake.” @realgmg67 then said: “Why aint that jean got a blue tick?.”
August 4th thats a saturday for one. then LFC are in dublin at a friendly for number two After that it is over a week away so while this guy has got attention there is no reason why such a date would exist.
I see Barca have gazumped Roma and signed Malcom from Bordeaux. If they had gazumped MU aswell Barca could of had a midfield of Malcom, Arthur and Fred. Just sayin'
Crystal Palace have made a late bid to sign Marko Grujic on loan from Liverpool and are also interested in Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater. Cardiff City have held talks with the Reds about re-signing the Serbia international midfielder on loan. The 22-year-old joined the Welsh club in January and played 14 times as they secured promotion to the Premier League. Liverpool are thought to be open to the idea of the Serbia international returning to the Cardiff City Stadium for a second spell. Grujic has made eight substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool since joining from Red Star Belgrade in a £5million deal in 2016.”
