I think it will be a combination of things. There's a growing disillusionment with the EU right across the member states. It could survive if it listened and changed. Can you see it doing that?
Absolutely you should be free to feel those things and have pride in your country. Same as you should feel free to identify as whatever you feel best represents you (English, British, European). There isn't a right or wrong answer as to your own personal view or allegiance. But the sort of national identity I think you refer to clearly doesn't exist for at least half of the country and those who dont adhere to this England for the English viewpoint shouldn't be vilified for that. I do wonder who these people are who you say don't like our country because it sounds more like a Daily Mail or Express-ism than actual reality. Genuine question but what is it that makes people proud to be English? I'll confess I am not particularly patriotic and that's mainly down to the crass and unpleasant behaviour I see prevalent in a lot of English people so for me I don't feel much to be proud of. As for the land itself, that I can take pride in but I feel generally disassociated with the social attitudes of a lot of English folk and the referendum has really hammered that home.
I'm a proud Yorkshire man first and foremost. Then I'm English. Am I proud to be English. Tricky question really. I'm proud of a lot of things but just being English would be way down my list. If that's not patriotic then I obviously am not that proud of this country. I'm proud of some of our achievements and also ashamed of others.
I'm proud to be English and sing God save the Queen. Will I sing God save the King when our next monarch accedes to the throne? No.
I must admit I would rather England had its own anthem as I tend to think of God Save the Queen being for the UK. The only problem is that the most obvious candidates (land of hope and glory and Jerusalem) would be criticised as being out dated and imperialist. We'd then end up with some load of old cobblers penned by Ed Sheeran or Jesse Jay. Maybe it's not so bad after all!

Rees Mogg actually proving that he doesn't really give a **** on LBC today. Says it'll be 50 years before the benefits of Brexit are felt; so just in time for those kids who weren't old enough to vote 2 years ago who will have lived through the preceding decades of damage to then enjoy it in their 60's. This is another reason why another meaningful vote should be given consideration, the people arguably most affected should have a voice.

There's no real appetite for change whilst the Queens still there as I think she's widely liked and respected even by some who don't agree with the principle of monarchy. I don't see Charles being popular at all. There is the Diana effect of course but he has come across as a bit hypocritical when interfering in politics which isn't really becoming of a future monarch. William will make a decent King and I think increasingly we'll see less focus on the minor royals and move to a more Scandinavian or Benelux model which is just a bit lighter. I favour that as it makes it easier for them to have a semblance of a normal life.
Personally the thing I most respect about him is that he looks like he does and gets his leg over at all.

If true, it sounds like JRM is in line for a wee windfall when we leave the EU. Wouldnt surprise me!. Similar goings on for when our drugs minister decides if or when to legalise medicinal cannabis. Her hubby is one if not the main player in production. Stinks of corruption!
