I think he'll fit in a number of positions, a 10 floating around zohore, a right sided attacker in competition with NML or as a different option as a 9. The flexibility will be a big bonus for us. It will give us the opportunity to change games and maybe a different formation for Neil as well as his preferred 433.
My wurzel mate this side of the bridge is ok with Reid and Flint going and is confident their new signings will do ok. Not confident of top 6 and rues them throwing away a top 2 spot last winter. He reckons Swansea will struggle.
I think he's about right on both accounts. The only thing about the Wurzels is their virtually starting from Ground Zero again, especially if as they suspect Bryan goes to follow Flint and Reid out of the door. Johnson has got a lot of work to do to get the tempo back - another "half season" of decent results again won't be enough to get anywhere near top 6. They failed second half of last season to capitalise on their great start and blew a very good chance of a playoff spot for some reason - many of their fans actually put that down to Johnson and his tactics. The Jacks are on a hiding to nothing. Potter's imported ideas from Sweden will either give them a new look on the pitch or they'll bomb - the Championship is an unforgiving place to experiment.
Like us, the wurzles got most of their business done early so should have a full pre-season to prepare the squad. Quite amicable over there at the moment..... ....til Sparkey makes all the posts about him and Cardiff. The vicar is ignoring him though. The swans on the other hand are changing their playing style and haven't made a senior signing with more to leave. Worrying times out west. That £40M funding gap will take some filling before any signings can be made. Lots of noise about the unlawful sacking of two directors to allow the sale to the yanks to go through though!
It's all gone very quiet over there on the banter front. Can't say I'm surprised though - it's extremely hot for afternoon tea at the Vicarage - after you with the croquet mallet Vicar.... Maybe when the season starts, there'll be some interchange with which some like minds will engage even though we're now in different divisions. Until then and now the WC is over for them it's back to the copy and pastes about themselves, and don't dare mention Warnock or Cardiff....
There must be a comedy sketch in there somewhere. I mentioned Warnock, but I think I got away with it.
Christmas Greetings to all of you over the bridge!! I must admit it feels like our clubs are poles apart - we look decidedly "mid-table" - but then when you sell 3 of your 4 best players I guess that's not too bad?? Anyway - you guys must be well pleased with how it's going so far
Can't say I enjoyed the first couple of months of the season smh, but we're learning fast. A lot depends on the Jan window as to where we'll finish. Looks like the Championship is no different this season as any other. Good sides beating each other to make the top 6 all to play for. Unfortunately, you and the jacks seem to be out of the current mix, and quite what it'll take to get you amongst them is anyone's guess - good luck.
Seasons greetings to you too smh. Been keeping an eye on your board most of the season. A mixed bag of views from your boys, including on your manager. I suppose you've had a few seasons consolidation in the league and would be hoping to kick on. A few false dawns as well. Things been tough in the big league though as sparkey says, learning as we go and have looked better in recent weeks. A few points away from home wouldn't go amiss. There are 7 teams getting separated at the bottom of the league and we need to be in the top half of those 7 come may.
