He was great before Barca (Valencia) - but his performances at Barca have been ****ty.I've seen rumours of Gomes from Barca - thoughts?
Considering we splashed out for Aubameyang in January I think this is fairly decent. Would have liked another midfielder, a winger and another CB but it seems ether there are budget restrictions.Ornstein saying torreira is our last major recruitment of the summer. However he did say we might bring in one more young player. (Assuming this means an 18 year old)
2 defenders
1 keeper
1 midfielder (assuming torreira gets done)
Are we ok with this? I think we took a very pragmatic approach to our signings this summer (for better or worse) none of the signings are that exciting, and we certainly did not splash the cash. But for once we did seem to address the areas we needed to address. Thoughts?

I think Nzonzi is one of the best holding players around at the moment. His age is the only real issue.Funny, I would definitely take nzonzi because he is the exact type of player we need.
But again, he is turning 30 in December...
4 years ago I would have laughed had we been linked with him. Not sure if that’s more a case of how much better nzonzi has become, or how far we’ve fallen...
We're about to sign someone called Matteo Guendouzi if reports are to be believed. Signing completely out of left field. Will cost around 8m on a 5 year deal. Can't pretend I know anything about him except that he is a 19 year old French CDM. Can anyone help me out here?
This is interesting and basically proves what i've been saying about Torreira. You need some height in midfield next to a guy that small - in the Premierleague at least.Read the same thing here and appears to be quite rated https://metro.co.uk/2018/07/08/matteo-guendouzi-join-arsenal-7million-transfer-week-7692839/.
He's a DM but is also box to box. Another player coming in that is went totally under the radar.

When you look at Nzonzi, Adli, Gomes and now Matteo Guendouzi - (the midfielders we have been chasing) it's clear Emery wants some size in midfield next to Torreira.
If we sign this guy it will (probably) be instead of Nzonzi. Hopefully we get both though.

Didn't see that one coming. Don't know anything about him, but Emery has obviously seen his potential. Looks like one for the future![]()
It's also Sven and Raul that are behind this, at last we have a PROPER team working with the coach. Most of the problems we had, and the endless bickering with the fans (and on this forum), was because of this. Now the coach can focus on the players/footy and the others can give support.
I'm quite positive about the changes, i can see us bounce back fairly quickly. Despite the difficulty of the PL, we still don't have a team that is out and out dominant. Yes City came close to it, but other teams have the capabilities to hurt them and win the PL too. It's still very open. We still have some serious quality in our team, and Emery co are fixing the issues that we have with the first team by addressing key areas. With some tweaking up front, we have the quality to score and create as many goals as all the top sides and Emery co fixing our defensive problems this transfer window.
With a full pre-season, i feel quite confident that we'll get top 5, and depending on how he adapts, possibly a top 4. The odds are against us, but with our pedigree and a top quality manager at the helm, we can bounce back.
