But I feel quite confident that Engkand could not have a better manager than Southgate.
Just back from what feels like the longest, hottest two hours I've ever spent in a pub, and that includes some pretty hot locations. Very enjoyable afternoons football, well bar having to tell a group of lads to STFU about Sterling.
Awful performance, but damn it, he does not deserve dogs abuse for helping us achieve history. My only gripe.

Isn’t Southgate also at least partly behind the success of our junior teams? He could be a legend in the making, unless he gets seduced by the dark side (PL management, rich middle eastern national side management, punditry etc. etc.)
If he keeps this going... Southgate can have the England managers job for the rest of his life!!
Or - if the dream does ultimately come true - he thinks that he couldn't ever top this, so decides to walk away there and then.

Southgate is a big believer in having players come through the age groups, so that they have a passing familiarity with each other. He may have got this idea from me...as it is a drum I've been banging for years.
I'm sure he will want to carry his dream on for a bit longer.
