Every time he had a chance he froze, a shadow of the man at Watford, a decent show from him and the Argies would have gone out.
Just got in and found that South Korea have put Germany out and the Swedes beat Mexico 3-0, Argentina narrowly wriggled off the hook yesterday, and France and Spain look all over the place, its starting to get interesting this World Cup.
I'm fairly embarrassed about England fans reactions after Germany's exit. Particularly when Germany don't give two ****s about us. I've nowt against the Germans personally.
Traditional rivals. Same as Argentina. I've got some good friends in Germany, still gonna give them stick about this. Even though I would have liked us to play them at some point.
I thought Scotland were our rivals? It's a little embarrassing considering the Germans don't see us as any sort of rival.
Bizarre one for us today. Win the group and have a rocky road against all the top nations, finish second and have what appears a comfortable stroll to the semis... What’s anyone’s thoughts? I’m kinda thinking we are still 2 years too early to win it so I’d like to play one of the big nations, see where we are. Also, imagine if we did travel that ropey route and won it? It would be undisputed. The team I fear is Columbia, and either us or Belgium are gonna have a hell of a job going through them.
Before the competition started everyone would have been happy to get to the QF. Just getting out of our group whilst playing well is already an achievement and the best I've seen us do for decades - I don't care that they were little teams, we outplayed them and are through with a game to spare. Bigger teams than us have messed up easy matches so far. As for the 2nd round it isn't going to be easy whomever we get (I hope for Japan as I think the way we play we'll find them easiest) but I agree Columbia is the worry. I'll be happy whatever happens today. Either we win/draw against the 2nd best team (ranking wise) in the tournament to set us up for a 2nd round in which we are favourites or we lose but get set up for a 2nd round in which we are favourites followed by a QF against either Sweden/ Switzerland. They are both nice prospects.
