This was the WC where Adidas made their name with their trefoil emblem on several shirts like HOL, URU,SWE, ARG, ZAI, BUL and POL, although strangely not GER.
Cruyff wore two stripe Adidas, ever the contrarian.
SCO (white shirts)and AUST were in Umbro.
All this captured in the magnificent FIFA book of the tournament ‘ WORLD CUP 74’ full of outstanding photography, layout by Willy Fleckhaus and match reports from the likes of David Miller and Brian Glanville. Currently on ebay for a tenner. One of the best ten football books ever published.

Two of the best WCs I reckon, I’ve got the official films on VHS...no idea why FIFA don’t release them on DVD.
