I think it's a case of clearing the decks. We can't dig in with everyone. We'll end up debt ridden after 1 year. We're getting at the top of what people are willing to pay by the sounds of it. I'm happy to trust their judgement on that one.

Hope McNair goes on to do **** all and prove the deal to be a good one.

I'm talking this window, the one with ages to run. Plenty of time to screw with agents back and try and make them think we'll make the likes of Catt's ect rot. It might forces them into a pay cut which would be of huge benifit to the club and well worth the negotiation time that set and there to be used. If we're seem to be taking a universal stance on agents, they'll be more likely they'll fold and take a wage cut imo. Pick and choose and we look inconsistent and they'll continue to run a mock. Plenty of negotiation time to be used. It would be a poor tactic not to use it imo. But there would be no excuse for not trying to make this club easier to run. Which is what we need.

The agents have the power weather we like it or not. Our entire playing staff bar half a dozen youngsters are saying they won't play for us again.

We need to shift some of them. We can't just let them all rot. He's said he'll happily let a few rot I'd they keep trying it once we've made progress on the clear out and it's less precarious but until then it's a bluff that won't work.

He's been handed a crock of **** and he's doing his best for me. I have no complaints having listened to the podcast. Massively enthused that a business man is trying to run the club as a business. I'm happy to trust him for now.

All I'm saying is use the time we've got to try and call their bluff and save some money. As I've said, not actually let them rot, I'm saying USE THE WINDOW. We've said the piss take is over. Actual quote from our owners, we've set our stance. Are we going to back up these comments or not bother and open the floodgates for even more piss takers. Cause we'll attract the same type of player we have been and that's been a massive problem.

We can't come across all bark no bite(And we've barked already). Or this era is ****ed before it starts imo.

Difficult one for me. I've just heard enough to give him a pass while he clears up Short's mess.

Incidentally... they ruled today that we owe an extra 5m in the Alvarez case. Nightmare.

We've made our bed mate. We gave it the big un about the piss taking being over. If we don't at least try to back it up there goes all credibility and agents will be rubbing their hands. Less so on players where we can shift the full wage. But those wanting to be supplemented we need to be venomous in negotiation.

Alvarez will be part of the bulk sum we owe rather than an addition to it I'd hope.

Yeah I get what you're saying. I'm just not convinced we were going to get too dollar from the position we've found ourselves in. The sooner we get rid of all of the Short era hangover and start again... The better.

We don't get rid until the stragglers taking supplemented wages from us drops out of the accounts. We won't shift Short completely for a few years yet anyway. We will have to supplement some of the players, it's likely unavoidable, but how much is down to us and our negotiation and being tough. It could be potentially crippling if we don't get promotions so we must try and save every penny possible imo. Out of site isn't enough if there's financial weight under the water, pulling us down from running in the black.

(Just listening to the podcast)Turns out we just don't value McNair very highly. Sad. I think we'll live to regret that.

Upside is we're completely rid of short by the end of next season apparently. No more wages, transfer fees or debts owed to short or anyone else.

    Not bad that.

That's not entirely true though. Catts still has three years on his contract and wants every penny. He my not be willing to take a lump sum, he may want his wage propped up for the next three years by us at his club new club. It's common practice now. Catt's Kone and Ndong could all keep the Short shadow hanging over our club for the next 3 years. Year three without a PL promotion those would become very problematic.

Its far too low for me and I am surprised by your valuation here as I think you are usually spot on. Time will tell of course and I hope you are right and I am wrong for all our sakes, but I would not be surprised to see McNair eventually go for more than Henderson, that's how high I rate him. On a side note the situation with Lens is worth watching in the short term, and is just another indicator on how poor our dealings are in the transfer market, as if we need any.

The way I see it is he was worth about 4 mil before his injury and when he came back and banged some great goals in (in the Championship mind) he looked more of a 7 mil player which is what I'd value him at, so 5 is acceptable for me, just about. I don't see how we buy him along with Love for 5, he's out injured for ages then comes back and scores some goals and is suddenly worth 20 mil.

I just don't feel like I've seen him play enough. If he keeps on scoring loads of goals from midfield he'll be valuable but if he can't keep that up then I haven't seen enough from the rest of his game to justify a big fee.

Once we gave our asking price to his agent it took 4 hours for it to be met. That was fully confirmed in the podcast and it speaks volumes imo. We got this so wrong showing our hand. There was clearly more money to be had. 4 Houes ffs. <doh>

Cant argue with that assessment mate, and only time will tell, I am watching the Argentina -Croatia match and it was super entertaining, catch the highlights if you missed it, love seeing the Argies suffer. <ok>

Transfermarkt value Issa Diop at £19.8 million. He's just moved for £22 million. Transfermarkt value Łukasz Fabianski at £5 million. He's just moved for £7 million.

Transfermarkt value Paddy McNair at £2.7 million. We're happy to accept £5 million for him.

There's absolute consistency there. Players are sold for a couple of million more than they are valued on Transfermarkt.
