Thoroughly absorbing game between Australia and Ireland right now. Aussies 11-9 ahead with 10 minutes left.

Superb effort by the Scottish cricket team there. A very humbling experience for England ........................
England will likely knock off the 370+ required in about 45 overs. Small ground with fast outfield so probably only three decent partnerships required.

Don't forget Edward Longshanks <ok>

Great performance form the Scottish team <applause>
I am very fond of 'The Prisoner' so I have to forgive 'Auld Longshanks'!

Still have to qualify for the finals of a One Day World Cup for this result to mean anything. Mind you the 'posh' boozers and wine bars of Stockbridge and George Street will be jumpin' tonight!

I dipped into Sky Sports coverage of the cricket. As usual the most enjoyable aspect was 'Bumble'; the guy is a genius and would definitely be a guest at my imaginary dinner party. His comments on his visit to an Edinburgh 'boozer' the night before, a pint o' heavy and the likely state of the portaloos following the match were priceless.

The gentleman is a national treasure!

The inimitable Mr Boycott not very well known in Norwegian football commentating circles!
Sorry BK I didn't appreciate you were quoting the original. I thought you were freestyling (a word my kids use - apologies for that too).
This result although not good for us may help bring about a change of attitude regarding the number of teams allowed to compete in the World Cup. Disgraceful that it's been restricted to 10 teams.

Too late for me to 'produce' any young help to assist in my poor and dated attempts at freestyling!

Will dip into the Cricket World Cup however my interest in the great game really died with Viv Richards, Ian Botham and David Gower and before that; Wes Hall, Charlie Griffiths and Gary Sobers. Mind you I always had a liking for the stubbornness of Ken Barrington.

Fairly easy answer to that, Henry, but you are too modest a gentleman to give us the reason!
The high standard of cricket commentators was my judgement. I am sure Mr Blofeld is far too classy to promote such a premise.

I give you; Brian Johnston, David Lloyd, David Gower, Richie Benaud, John Arlott, Michael Holding and many more (even that gentleman from Yorkshire!).

I suppose the pace of the game lends itself to personal musings and anecdotes from the careers of the 'gentlemen'.

Ah, OK sorry, misunderstood. Man, you listed some class commentators there. Geoff? Well, you've just got to get used to him, which can take several years! <laugh> He does have one basic problem I would say, and that is……………..he just doesn't like people? :emoticon-0112-wonde
