Ah, OK sorry, misunderstood. Man, you listed some class commentators there. Geoff? Well, you've just got to get used to him, which can take several years! <laugh> He does have one basic problem I would say, and that is……………..he just doesn't like people? :emoticon-0112-wonde

While we're on cricket, here's a funny tale from Merv Hughes on sledging <laugh>

Not exactly wild about sledging, but here's a couple of 'return fire' replies which I enjoyed:

Bus driver man
Justin Langer could never resist a dig at an Englishman, and was hardly going to let little details such as only being Australia’s 12th man stop him sledging Nasser Hussain. “I don’t mind this lot chirping at me but you’re just the bus driver,” Hussain observed.

Biscuity goodness
Glenn McGrath’s razor-sharp inquiry to Zimbabwe’s Eddie Brandes – “Why are you so fat?” – was met with the rather more effective: “Because every time I make love to your wife, she gives me a biscuit.”

Moi;

25% self deprecation
25% pessimism
25% natural and inbuilt grumpiness
25% Mr Hyde on the lash

100% a Scot!

The above are, of course, my 'nature' traits.

My 'nurture' from Bavaria and Nord Rhine Westphalia has allowed me to retain these fine characteristics and admirable qualities!

BK, that sounds like me!

Thanks vm to Oddy, seems I have just discovered David Lloyd. First, you have to imagine this old southerner from London, leaning forward listening to David intently so he does not miss a Lancastrian word, and creasing-up laughing. So, here's, "David Lloyd vs Jeff Thomson Ashes 1974/75":

Another of my favourite cricket videos from You Tube. This is pretty much legend now but this was the VERY FIRST BALL IN ASHES TEST CRICKET of a young Shane Warne in 1993 at Old Trafford ....................... watch and be as mesmerised as Mike Gatting <ok>

Yep, must have seen this bloody clip 50 times at least. Not bad though against a player of Mike Gatting's class. Warne did turn out to be a fair sort of spin bowler! :emoticon-0100-smile

Here's a clip on Mike's 160 at Old Trafford in 1985:

Warne could have described that ball to Gatting before he bowled it so he was ready for it and it would have still got him out. Unplayable. When Warne was reeking havoc in those early days I remember Fred Truenan on TMS berating the England players and saying they should just to play im off the wicket. It was that simple for the long retired Fred! The Eddo Brandes rebuff to Mcgrath is a fav of mine though I doubt he used the term 'make love' Swanny!

2 huge cricketing memories for me from back in the day. 1. Viv Richards 170 odd in a one day game against England. We actually had them on the ropes in that game at around 100/7 before the master blaster took over. 2. The other was Devon Malcolm's demolition of South Africa after De Villiers sconed him. That was awesome stuff and I doubt any team ever bounced the big man again.

I remember playing rugby for my school and you tended to play your main rivals (The Royal High School, George Watson's College) two or three teams each year and there was always one guy in the opposition who would make you think; "F**k, not him again."

Step forward Damian Sinclair McKenzie!

It will require one hell of a show from the Big Show and his mates for the Aussies to prevail here. 480 runs in 50 overs. Unthinkable 10 years ago
