Strewth reading some of the posts you would think Arsenal didn't turn up on the day. Man Utd played out of their skin there would not have been many a team in the world that would have lived with United yesterday. As for young Chamberlain......as others have said he did look out of it totally. Mind you to be fair I could not figure out in what position he had been bought on to cover. I think this was his problem too......
arsenal defence is a ****ing joke, they may as well have not even been on the field. if he paid any more than £10 combined for djourou and koscielny then he is insane.
I don't even think they played out of their skin! They just kept the ball and took all of their chances perfectly. They ran Arsenal into the ground, and played the tactical game perfectly by exploiting the full back Jenkinson.
Uniteds finishing was superb and you can't really point the finger at the Arsenal keeper for any of them, but they were given the time to pick them apart. You can't really blame the individual players or their lack of ability as players, but they lacked a leader in the back four. You don't have to have years and years of experience to be a leader but neither Djourou or Koscielny stepped up and got a hold of the young full backs and made sure they kept a tight line. If no one steps up then it's up to the manager to appoint someone and force the responsibility on to one player and that didn't happen. I don't think Arsene really knows how to put together a firm defensive unit and has always relied on experienced pros like Adams, Keown, Campbell, Gallas and then to certain extent Toure to hold things together. Then to make matters worse the midfield which would really need to protect the inexperienced midfield was either inexperienced itself or lacked the discipline to defend. On top of this you had a disinterested Van Persie who does little to press whilst out of possession and it was only Walcott who came away with any dignity from the display. On the plus they still look good going forward, missed a pen at 1-0 and also had a good few chances at 3-1 to get back in the game. I think they have too much to avoid relegation.
What I didn't understand was arsene blaming his numerous injuries (8?) for their defeat. Ok fair enough they were missing some of their key players, but other than van persie and walcott I can't think of many other players from their squad which could get into the united team. They don't just need one or two players to sort it out, they need half a new first team.
Rumoured all summer that Arsenal would lose their top players.....and its not like Arsenal finished last season well when they had Fabregas,Nasri,Clichy etc. Now they're a club in turmoil it makes AOC's decision to go there crazy imo. Arsenal have always blooded youngsters into a winning, confident team....the youngsters they played yesterday must be shot to pieces after that mauling, need to be taken out the firing line......AOC badly advised.....wrong time....wrong club....should of stayed on the bus!!
Would have been better treated at ManU..might not have been blooded so soon, but would have been better protected and got good service. Apart from financial considerations, would have been better with us for another year (as we tried to tell him!) and he would also have been an asset for us.
Arsenal was a very big draw, but the wrong team at the wrong time. They are going to have to spend big to even have a half decent season, especially on defence (not one of Wenger's strengths).
Think he needs a loan out. Man U are good, but to concede 8 is shocking. Not good for a kid full of confidence before he left to be in a team getting molested.
he should never have gone to arsenal. i just dont understand it. surely his dad must have contacts in the game, why didnt he tell alex to go somewhere else?
The signs were there, but the fall of Arsenal has been more dramatic than expected. Doubt his Dad thought Alex would be thrown to the wolves.
What team are you thinking of? It should be a decent Championship side with a reputation for bringing on youngsters., though Arsenal would have to pay his wages of course.
Nice thought but doubt it would happen. Just any well organized team that can use him for what he is, Bolton maybe?
