I'm a bit surprised by all of this. He's joined a top Premier League and European team, albeit they are in a strange state at the moment. He has got an opportunity to prove himself and probably while on very good wages. Arsenal are having a blip, that may have been a long time coming, but they are still a big club. Personally, I think he's beter of there now while he has chance of playing a few times, than being there when they were flying and he'd get nowhere near the first team. The last 6 months have been strange for Arsenal, but in 3 or 4 years time, they'll still be up there.
*shakes head at fatletiss* Sigh, you know full well that reasoned & balanced arguments have no place on here.
Will they be there? They'll continue to not compete with the top clubs unless they get major financial backing. It could be the start of the end of the glory times for Arsenal? Everton, Wolves, Aston Villa, Preston North End they've all had their moments in the sun...
Its mainly because Wenger is stubborn over his targets and valuations. I still can't believe they paid as much as they did for Oxo, I can only presume that another club put in a high bid at the same time and Saints used it to their advantage. Arsenal are loaded and they would have no problem finding an Arab, Russian, Far East or another american billionairre if they were desperate. When you go abroad, it's quite common to see the team called "London Arsenal" in papers and on tv, so that adds to their value. I can't see Arsenal being a top 6 side this season, but having said that, I think the top 4 (Man U, Man City, Liverpool & Chelsea) will be miles away from the rest this season.
