My personal opinion with England is that the heirarchy always pressure the managers into playing to type eventually. Southgate fits the "yes sir, no sir" profile

Likes of veneables and to a degree hoddle, imo, didn't fit as they were looking to add their own thing to proceedings

Disagree that Southgate is a yes man, having been around the set up a while I think he's more likely to do things his own way.

My opinion is you are being unfair on Southgate. I think he knows his own mind, and will have the players doing things his way. Whether that will work is another matter.

Good 1st half but floundered when they matched our formation. Gareth doesn't seem to have a plan B.

England went into a shell with Nigeria changes. Which is worrying.

Time will tell and he may do ok, but he is the epitome of a yes man and always has been imo. Never known him to have an original thought, in interviews and that. Always looks to be reading a script

Yeah time will tell. We will have to agree to disagree tbh. For me his appointment was all that's wrong with English football and why I lost interest tbh

Judge him by what happens on the pitch.

That's all that matters, not how he comes across in the studio, how many newspapers he helps to sell with daft comments, or what soundbites he generates.

Good job we're judging the England manager by his interviews <ok>

Ultimately I am/will and have not seen anything on (or off) the pitch that makes me think different.
