Both on under £20k apparently, both mid to late 30's in the Premier League, but halved in the Championship. Bizarrely, I understand Grosicki is the only player now on over £20k a week.
I dread to think of the ****e we'll sign with that thunder **** Darnbrough over seeing targets and then Ehab ****ing it up once he meets the player(s) in question. It's got monumental **** up written all over it.
I won't be laughing when HDM headlines are our big clash against Scunny. One parachute payment the big earners gone then will then take the money. We are absolutely ****ed. For those who like a bet we will finish 24th.
What are people's realistic expectations for this transfer window? Adkins has stated he wants to have a squad of 20 outfield players supplemented by young u23 players. Adkins will be expecting all of the out of contract players to leave, only Moses may decide to stay but this looks increasingly doubtful. His budget will depend on Ehab getting a good price for Grosicki, hopefully he has a good World Cup and puts himself in the shop window. Adkins will be banking on holding onto Bowen, but if a big bid does materialise then Ehab will be very tempted to take it. I think the positive-thinking-man is setting his stall out to get Adelakun to replace Grosicki on the left. So if he continues to play a 4-3-3 formation, then we have Campbell, Keane and Dicko for the central striker role. That must surely be decent enough for a mid table finish. Strong activity in the loan market will be used to shore up our lack of numbers in defence and an astute Bosman signing may provide a bit of experience in the midfield. All of this depends on 1) our super Head of Recruitment Mr D getting off Youtube and FIFA 2018 and attempting to sign players, and 2) Mr Allam Jnr not going for a month long holiday to watch the F1 and play Polo. The bookies have us down for a mid table finish, and they aren't often wrong.
With a team worse than the one we had last season. No get of jail free signings like Wilson, butter fingers Marshall in goal it spells bottom 3.
Said it before, will say it again. Without new owners a) we will be relegated and b) Adkins will walk or be pushed for having spoken out
I think the gap between mid table mediocrity and relegation scrapping will decrease, I don't see any obvious poor sides in the Championship this coming season. On the other hand I don't see a new 'Wolves ' type team emerging with a large bundle of cash behind them, and Financial Fair Play may become more of an issue for some teams.
Think Marshall may go back to Cardiff. It's just not worked out. We will have to sign some players. I have faith in niges knowledge to identify them, getting them in will be the problem. But... We have good players here. Forwards Campbell, Dicko, Keane. Need another one. Big lad please. Midfield Toral, Irvine,Stewart, Batty, Henriksen, Bowen. Defence McDonald, Kingsley. Mazuch. Lots more needed. Keepers. Mannion, Burton. Think Marshall will go. First choice needed probably. I'd like to see Aina back here. Edit Evandro and weir. Roughly we have 17 first team players. So don't expect many incoming.
I think Aina is the new breed of right back, pacey attacking play is more valuable than defensive ability. He should come on leaps and bounds after his 1st full season, he may even move abroad this coming season. I can't see Marshall being sold, he has hardly covered himself in glory over the past 2 seasons and now isn't part of the Scotland squad - he was last capped in 2016. We have been linked with Eric Lichaj at Notts Forest, he looks a decent proposition, played plenty of games and has plenty of experience at right-back.
We are one of the obviously poor sides. The 3 relegated PL teams will try and keep the majority of their squads together I'd expect. We can't continue bumbling into the season with 6 first team players and then attempting to chuck one together last minute with free signings and has beens. The three league one promoted sides will be better than us - no other team in the Championship will have such a slap dash approach to signings. We'll be relegated, I don't doubt it. McGregor kept us in games last season - gone. Dawson kept the **** defence together last season - gone/going. Larsson held the midfield together last season (my player of the season) probably gone. Wilson got the important goals to keep us up (unlikely to be back) Then you have Adkins - frankly a bit of a joke to be honest. I don't rate him, at all.
I just don't get how you can say that about Adkins. Like all managers he's tanked a couple of times but he's just done a good job with us and has in the past with other teams.
I don't like his happy-clapper, completed a course on postive thinking, pint is 0.50001% full , statistics spouting style, but he is our manager and at present I cannot see us getting a better one. So we have to get behind him, we might not like him but he is our gaffer.
I just don't rate the fella. ****s about with the team selection and formation. Square pegs and round holes. Didn't like him publicly slating Angus McDonald (His signing). I think he's a journey man manager. Nothing more.
When did he **** about with team selection and formation? I thought we pretty much stuck with 4-2-3-1. Which wasn't his choice more leftover from slutsky. Be interesting to see if he persists with it. I don't know who isn't a journeyman manager these days. We took a left field appointment with slutsky and it was a disaster. Rowett failed but got a better job. Pulis sacked by wba. Failed with boro. Sometimes a manager fits a club, I think, and maybe nige will be right for us. I'm hoping he brings in some rough diamonds from the lower leagues.
