Having studied the groups and the routes subsequent to the 'foreplay' your match against Belgium is very significant. Winning the group could give England a more than 50:50 (in my estimation) chance of reaching the semi finals. As for your 'fancy' Belgium I look at them in the same light as their close neighbours, The Netherlands. I feel they promise a great deal with their obviously talented pool of players however I believe England will achieve at least a draw in the final group match.

Talking of The Netherlands this brings me to one of the big bugbears of my association football history. In the United Kingdom it was assumed that The Netherlands would roll over West Germany in the 1974 World Cup final. This view was based upon the British media salivating about the names in the Dutch team. Had these idiots never heard of or seen Beckenbauer, Hoeness, Muller, Maier, Bonhof, Overath, the unbelievably under rated Schwarzenbeck and the greatest of them all; Paul Breitner.

European Champion for the thirteenth time. Third consecutive Champions. UEFA is seriously considering suspending the competition if next year R. Madrid wins again due to lack of interest in knowing the winner in advance.

First time in history that a club is a European champion in football and basketball the same year.

Cannae believe the whining from the supporters of Liverpool FC about Sergio Ramos; this from fans of a team who have, throughout the years, included Tommy Smith, Ron Yeats, Jimmy Case and Graeme Souness!

Well done on the win! some record that - 13 wins. Helps when the ref turns a blind eye to the shenanigans of the Madrid defenders though. What a colossal arsehole Sergio Ramos is. I've no respect for him as a player whatsoever. I note Bayernkenny flags up a load of former Liverpool players who were quite prepared to mix it. Subtle difference with those guys was they would never have gone down like they'd been shot as Ramos did when the end of Mane's pinky finger brushed through his hair. Let's not forget he got a Juve player sent off in last year's final too with his histrionics. He's an embarrassment to Real Madrid and to football. Also didnt like to see the referee returning to the pitch after half time arm in arm with Benzema. Why should any ref should feel the need to put his arm round a player is beyond me. And just for the record I had no dog in the fight. In fact a load of the my good lady's family are Liverpool fans and any opportunity to stop them from crowing is always great fully received. However Ramos is a cheat and it's about time the officials wised up to it in the big games.

You're wrong and I'm not a fan like you say. Anyway, I have too many years to enter into discussions of this nature. R. Madrid does not feed me I have to get up every day at six thirty in the morning for that. I think you take football too seriously, I also took it like that 40 years ago.
 
Just a general post based on my thoughts and memories from the last six Champion's League tournaments. I admit that these musings come from my concentration on and deep bias towards FC Bayern Munchen.

Bearing in mind that the victorious team will compete in their final five matches (quarter finals onwards) against teams of more or less the same standard I would judge that 'your' team has to achieve (?) three goals. When I say "teams of more or less the same standard" I look at 'my' likely opponents in the quarter finals.

FC Bayern Munchen would probably (?) have to play one of:

PSG, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Athletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Barcelona.

My judgement of the three important requirements:

1. No defensive f**k-ups.
2. Your 'big' players must have 'big' games scoring 'big' goals.
3. We now come to the controversial one; over the five matches your club must benefit from a majority of the 50:50 (even possibly 40:60) decisions from the officials.

Am I becoming overly cynical and clinical in my dotage?

what utter cobblers. I was looking for a 6-5 goal fest and not bothered which team got the 6 so hardly taking it too seriously. I’m not wrong either just have a different opinion to you. This forum is big enough for more than one opinion.
 
I hope Niklas Sule developes some of the 'black arts' as practiced by Sergio Ramos. I am sick of losing to Spanish clubs and then having to read or hear we were the 'better' team. We didn't f****n' win and that is the end of the f****n' story!

Am I a bad person?

Or am I an illogical football supporter of a particular club?

I have no idea if the first sentence is an insult or something similar but I don't care, my problems with the English language may prevent you from understanding me. When I said that you were wrong, I meant that I'm not a fan, that's what I meant. You don't know me and I don't know you, you can have your opinion and I have mine but my opinion is as important or as insignificant as yours. If you get angry about things like this you should be bitter all day.
 
The Sunday Times has an article on the new Arsenal manager. He seems to have reasonable credentials although my eye was drawn to the accompanying photo of him and his missus. Now she looks incredibly well bred with a fine set of pins.
 
Here's something from Goal.com on football's new Public Enemy No.1. Trying my best to keep an open mind on this incident that put Salah out of the game, but it is not so easy, typically, as it was all over in a couple of seconds or so. Ramos certainly made no attempt to unhook his arm from Salah's, before falling on him. Ramos has always been up to every damn trick in the book, this is nothing new. The injury to Salah turned out to be not so serious, shoulder ligament strain I think, although it did look very much like a dislocated shoulder at the time, or worse?
