Seriously! Do you realize that we now have a financial black hole with relegation? I fully expect the players we want to keep, putting in transfer requests and going, the dross we really want to get rid off, hanging around, which will mean that these players will have to accept savage cuts to their contracts if we are to remain financially sound, the ideal situation would be to ruthlessly offload this squad, and rebuild a new squad on Championship prices. There is also the issue of contract write-offs, some of which can be covered by player sales, but when you consider that we do not receive the parachute payments until the end of the Championship season, then credit lines will be heavily needed from Barclays etc, If I was the Bank, I would certainly be introducing some cast iron Directors guarantees. Oh what a tangled web we weave if at first, we do deceive!..................... PS: In a nutshell Dai, it's clean out time, and top of that list will be Bony who is on £120,000.00 per week, his salary will be cut to around £35,000, which I see him running to his agent for a move to Turkey, as for our new gaffer Potter, he'll be needing the services of cousin Harry!!!........................
Phil, Holy hell....I didn't realise parachute payments are in arrears....although does that mean that last season's Premiership payments are also in arrears? So you have cash to be going on with? Or does that go back to the bank for that loan in the middle of the season?
Just to further my above point Dai check out this link, on the breakdown of our squad wages, when you look at that data, one thing for me stands out, and that is we have been planning for the Championship these last two seasons............ Given that they are pretty much guaranteed, I suspect teams would be able to borrow against the expected parachute payments.
What if we go straight back up, (highly unlikely) do we still receive the first year's parachute payment?
Ostersunds chairman today saying more or less the same but with the additional comment that they have a list to replace Potter. So edging closer
Premier league payments I believe are paid in stages throughout the season, with a final payment at the end of the season, broken up by domestic payments overseas payments, and league position...............
Parachute payments are paid over a 4 season stage and should you get promoted the payments of 2,3,and 4 get cancelled....
Pretty sure its now 3 years Dai. Reduced from 4. Also if you get relegated after 1 season its just 2 years.
I thought that but was not sure but the point was made that you only get a certain amount over 3 seasons and you lose it if you gain promotion...
Bony's not going anywhere then, I guess....unless relegation clause. It would be interesting to see this next time to see how much a relegation clause hits the pockets of the players...if it is a regular thing?
They all have relegation clauses, hopefully most of the miserable buggers will clear off!!!................
