I know he wasn't a big goalscorer, but it's strange that he dropped so far after leaving City.

Someone must have liked him though 'cos we got another to take his place, Dio.

Ahhh, Good ol' McLean. I remember when he broke an old womans nose in the pre game warmup, believe it was Charlton away, 0-0 and rained nonstop as the game began.

Made me highly suspicious of scouts after we signed him. A "big" man. ****ing hell.

Players like him always make me wonder how some of the top players in amateur and semi pro around hull don't make it.
Shocking, I won't even call him a footballer. **** touch **** technique couldn't pass it or trap it very well.
Could jump high and skim headers to nowhere.
Meh

Tis funny, how a couple of strikers score oodles of goals together (McLean with Mackail Smith at Peterborough....think about Chillo at Coventry or Bannister / Warboys after the Pirates) and then fall off a cliff.

But Mr McLean, I would salute you sir.

Because of all the many times I saw you play, I never once saw you not give absolutely 100% effort. You were always effervescent that's for sure.

OK, perhaps you didn't score the goals that we expected, but I would like to thank you for your crucial part in our historic route to the FA Cup Final.

Cheers!

He did always seem to give his all when playing, but I recall Bruce not being happy with his conduct off the pitch when we got better players and he was no longer playing often.
