I didn’t like the bloke. But just from hearing him speak. My dislike is not down to what he did at SAFC just one of those niggling things. He technically did a good job at SAFC as he had to streamline costings.
He was likely to blame for Vito being sold and replaced by ****. A move that saved us barely any money and likely got us relegated. He didn't do a good job at all. Short has wiped our debt. Not him.
Short wiped it but Bain might have minimised it as far as humanly possible. Might have being the key phrase, only time will tell there. Who knows with Vito, he might have demanded a move but asked to keep it low key so as not to sour us against him. I don't think we can judge Bain fairly until the facts are made public.
By all means. I just don't think we can say he did a good job. We got relegated twice under his stewardship. At best he couldn't fight the tide.
Yeah he lives or dies by the balance sheet and until we see it we don't know if he did well. The fact he got dismissed early doors doesn't suggest he was transcendent but who knows. Most likely the Mannone sale and failure to replace was a balls up tbh. Short might have been on his case to penny pinch but going a season without a competent keeper cost us relegation.
Selling Vito was a monumental ****upity and he always maintained it was the right thing to do, nuff said for me like.
Even if Vito wanted to go he shouldn't have been sold until we brought in an actual replacement. Pickford money, Vito money. Steele and Ruiter in. No good at all. Spending 2m extra would have kept us up and saved us far more than the outlay. Didn't need to cost the world.
Don't think Vito was shown enough love by the club(not fans), I think he'd have stayed if he'd felt wanted. The club became impersonal, turned people with names into numbers and salaries. Think this atmos will have been every bitas toxic as the lack of confidence in the playing squad. This was Bain's area and I bet it was a horrible place to work at any level which worked directly with him.
Agree...in business your judged by results. Two seasons...two relegations....didn't think we needed to spend a fortune to steady the ship....selling Vito to me was a huge f*ck up to be honest in my opinion...he could have been the difference....but let's just move on without Bain. He will always be a part of our dark history.
I bumped into Vito in September when I was working in Bracknell for a few days. He asked to leave - it wasn't Bain's decision, it was his. The amount that we got for him was sacrilege, mind! Absolutely spot on Bri - he said almost exactly this - he loves the fans. Of that there is no doubt (should've seen his face when he heard my accent) but he didn't want to be part of the club any longer. Still gave him abig congrats for that penalty save!!
The money we got for Vito was about as great a deal as we got for Kaboul....fffs Putting the sale of these two together hopefully covered the cost of the jolly boys out to New York and the cost of damage after the Celtic friendly...
No one up here is Scotland was too impressed when he became CEO, their experience of his time at Rangers was not encouraging.
The Kaboul deal really set us back. He was a rock for us before he left, but he has hardly played a game this season. so we may have dodged a bullet there.
This is what I was told at the time, and just listening to the bloke is a give away. Smarmy word smith, real creep, and I'm pleased that he has gone.
