So do you think Adam Curry was given a new contract due to a feeling of loyalty by the club?

Other than Batty, it seems we're just giving the yoof players one year deals.

I'd read what he said again. It's out of his mouth.

I've got to give you the credit Chazz. Defending the Allams is thankless task. You clearly have a very strong back.

Maybe they’ve been shown a draft copy of the retained list and told “sign here or your off the list”!

I can't see anywhere it says the club have given him a contract out of a sense of loyalty but heyho.

I’m going to wildly speculate and say that Adam Curry didn’t write or say anything in that statement.

The club looked after him a year ago - good to see.

    Yawn.
Obviously it doesn't say the word loyalty so it's not true. But giving a contract to a payer out with a serious injury he may not have returned from shows, err what's the word now err can't seem to think of it. Now what could it be. Nope can't think of it

Injured Ian Ashbee has signed a new contract []

Ashbee, who had been out of contract at the end of the season and is currently sidelined with a serious leg injury, has committed to the club until 2011.

The news may raise eyebrows given concerns over Ashbee’s fitness and the recent publication of alarming financial figures.

A club statement added: “Ian continues to work hard in his rehabilitation from a cruciate ligament injury and we look forward to seeing him back on the pitch as soon as possible.”

The agreement was concluded on October 9, however the club have made clear it predated the accounts revelations and the resignation of former chairman Paul Duffen.

Ashbee, 33, is unlikely to play again until March at the earliest after undergoing major surgery on a career-threatening bone condition for a second time.

The midfielder was found to have suffered a recurrence of a problem first encountered in 2005 whilst undergoing a routine operation on a knee injury sustained in May.

He consequently underwent a complicated operation in the United States which involved drilling holes in his femur to stimulate bone growth.

Ashbee joined Hull in 2002 and has played for the club in all four professional divisions.

We re-signed Billy Bly after the Second World War. Great loyalty shown there too.

Offering a contract to an injured player shows faith, not 'loyalty'. If a club is expecting a player to play for them again how could it ever be loyalty offering them a contract?

I personally think it was sad the way Ashbee left the club, regardless of what was going on off the field. It left a bad taste in the mouth that the greatest captain in our history was quietly allowed to fade away and effectively binned off, and yet you choose him as an example of good club practice?

    'arf' indeed.

Why was he not very good? Were we doing him a favour? Or did he go on to play a lot more games for us?

Obsession? Chortle? I’ve mentioned it twice.

To further the hyperbole, you then ask whether joining after years might be ‘sinister’?

Not sure what ****ed up lens you see things through, but allow me to point something out.

You join on May 1 after apparently years on the margins, then after you make some claim about Hernandez (which, at the time, seemed thoroughly outlandish), you then return snivelling about ‘the usual scorn’ posting such rumours are often met with.

So, after years of reading the forum then, you’re seemingly not aware that posting anything, nevermind something that seems totally unliklely, might be treat with suspicion?

Did you expect everyone to take what you wrote as fact, ignoring any form of critical eye and just post nothing else but acceptance?

So...Leeds are prepared to pay 40k a week for Hernandez supposedly. Likely a two year contract making him worth £4 million. Chances are if he has a good season they'd sell him for £10 mill. What a brilliantly run club we are.. But never mind Keane is ready!!!

It’s a sad sign of the times that many people just see value or obligation in cold hard cash or contracts, rather than in any form of honour.

Agreed. But they are out there. Which is all I've pointed out.
Seems to have ruffled a few feathers.

Matt le tiss coulda earned a lot more money than he did at Southampton but stayed as he loved the club.
