No sympathy at all Arsenal did not need to sell there best players. Look at tottenham, Modric was forced to stay cos he was under contract. Arsenal chairman saw pound signs and cashed in, and with the money brought young unexperienced players its their own fault.
I don't hate Arsenal but there is no excuse for losing all your best players because of failure to improve the team over the years. A couple of years ago the team was strong but was allowed to decline. Players wanted to leave because they could see a lack of ambition. Even taking that into account..if Wenger was a better coach his team would have have had more guts. I know he's been a good manager for Arsenal but my guess is that he only has this season to pull things together.
I think Wenger transformed the way that football is played in this country and the last team that won the Premiership was the summit of his achievement. However, do think that the rest of football has caught up with him and, combined with his diminishing powers as a coach, I think he is in danger to having his reputation destroyed as his team is in a nosedive down the league. As someone who regularly spends my holidays in France asnd have a great affinity for the people there, I have never warmed to Wenger. He has continually flooded his squads with foriegn players and is one of the managers whose decision to largely ignore English talent has contributed to the failings of our national team in an indirect manner. Having snapped up both Walcott and Alex O-C from Saints, I feel that he has robbed us Saints fans of enjoying two of the most exciting prospects in the game to have emerged in the last five years. whilst I accept that talent like this is always going to attarct the attention of the bigger clubs, it is disappointing that they elected to join an Arsenal team in a serious decline and more likely to be engaged in a relegation battle than being in purusit of a European position. Therefore, I don't have much sympathy for Wenger and if his season does not improve, fully expect him to be moved up-stairs. In a nutshell, I love watching his Arsenal suffer like this! No sympathy whatsoever.
They'll be like Liverpool last season. They will take ages to get going but eventually they will come together and may finish maybe 7th if they're lucky. In response to the original question...NO! Always pinching foreigners which I think is insulting as we have a wealth of British talent out there. Always finding something or someone to moan about. To soft on his team today. Any manager would have eld his hands up and said Yes we were shocking. However Wenger uses the 'tired' excuse... Rubbish...
No sympathy for Arsenal who are always stalking our youth academy!!! AOC came on and looked completely lost in a club which is in turmoil. After results like today you after pull your kids out the firing line, Arsenal can't do that because lack experience in their squad. AOC's move to Arsenal.....wrong time!!.....wrong club!!
I do begrudge him leaving us Jen......17 yo, never played a championship game in his life...should have spent another season with us
why do people have a problem with wenger buying foreigners. It is a well know fact that english players are overpriced, over rated and generally ****. take gary cahill for example, how the **** is he worth 18m, you could get a foreign equivalent for 3 or 4 million. also compare the purchases of hernandez and suarez (both quality players) to how much money was spent on that donkey carroll. i don't blame wenger for buying foreign players.
