Not remotely surprising. The men in the ivory towers must have dreaded a Roma - Pool final so had to arrange it that the two proper giants played eachother in the Semis.
It's for the same reason that Atletico have to face Arsenal now. The prospect of a totally irrelevant Marseille - Salzburg final was too great a risk to take.
And for exactly the same reason we see every season that the top 4 or 5 are largely kept apart in the FA cup until the later stages. Because a Southampton - Leicester final interests no one aside from the fans of those teams.
I firmly believe that the only element of the draw that isn't rigged is which team plays at home first. There are 2 balls coated in bacon grease and it isn't clear which the paid-up pundit (usually and suspiciously someone with allegiances to a club still with a vested interest in the tournament) will pick first. Other than that, it's a sham.
