I went to a meeting of the fan groups (at that point CTWD, the OSC and the HCSS) that was essentially an attempt to get them all to come up with a joint response to oppose the name change. In the meeting - which was before the Fulham 6-0 game - an attendee claimed to have spoken to Assem, and said he had a message for us that was essentially if we didn't shut up he'd stop funding the club and make sure that everyone knew we were to blame. The manner in which it was done was, I felt, particularity sh***y and that was the straw the broke the camel's back for me regarding the Allams.

I'd been a bit dubious on the Allams at that point, and had voiced that on Amber Nectar - much to the chagrin of other posters at the time. I had heard things about staff at the KC and the way in which they were being treated, I hated the manner in which Barmby was sacked, I didn't like how Johnny Whiteley – a man who has done a lot for City over the years – was humiliated regarding the memorabilia concerning him, and I didn't like the threats to move the club out of the city (during the 10-year anniversary of the KC too). Those issues (and one or two others) combined with the early name change stuff and the response to those opposing it very much did for me.

As some of you know, I travelled most Saturdays from Portsmouth for home games and had been a pass holder for many years. Three years ago I put an end to it all. I had had a gutfull of this spiteful megalomaniac and his crack pot schemes. The membership scheme being the thing that made my mind up that I would no longer attend home matches and put money in this cretins pocket. It was an unfortunate decision bearing in mind that I had started supporting City in 1958 as a young lad going with his grandad. My support never waivered even through the bad times but enough was enough. Im not proud that I have withdrawn my support and I know that I have been ridiculed at the beginning for it. I have every respect for those that continue to go but I am a proud person and refuse to be treated as we have been over the last few years since the name change episodes. I look now and see an avalanche of folk cancelling their memberships and wonder how things have got to such a state at OUR club. I say OUR club because the present owners are just guardians of it and it will be here long after they have gone. I will continue with my present stance until they are gone and frankly that cant come quick enough for me. Do I miss it ? greatly. I miss meeting up with a lot of mates and many of them took the same stance as me. I must admit I don't miss all the travelling though. What does concern me is that many long time supporters, old school, have also boycotted the club and I am sad to say that I don't think a lot of those will ever watch the club again. I cant put in words just how destructive these people have been, certainly the son. But the picture will be much clearer at the start of next season if they are still around.

Also a bit irrelevant in Hull when two other professional sports clubs were formed a lot earlier.
So what is the point.
