Arnaud Beltrame, the French police officer, who yesterday swapped himself with a hostage in the French terrorist attack, keeping his radio on to help the police monitor what was happening, and one of those shot, has died. What a selfless sacrifice, a hero.

RIP
Have been to Carcassonne many times and was there September last year . Lovely place that has been visited by evil , but Arnaud - you are a true hero .

Truly a hero, to put himself in that position shows immense courage, unlike the his killer who was a coward. RIP Arnaud Beltrame.

Lost a good mate two weeks ago, Jonathan (Jonty) Collins was found dead at home after suffering an aneurism, aged just 58.

Well known in Beverley from his time working at Beverley Hills/Regal, he was a real character, with a cutting sarcastic wit.

He cheated death in 1989, when while working as an air steward, he survived the Kegworth Air Disaster.

He’ll be missed by many.

RIP Jont.

A friend last night told me that Peter Kay has died. Apparently it's yet to be released to the public. I don't believe it for a second, but he said it's why he cancelled his tour before, the illness was apparently terminal. I really hope that's wrong.

I'd wait till something gets reported otherwise it could turn into a rumour thread.

bill maynard, selwyn froggat, greengrass - 89 and worked for 81 years.

Remember when he first appeared on TV with Terry Scott in a programme called Great Scott it's Maynard. He was really thin and lanky then! Didn't see him again for many years until he popped up as the loveable rogue Greengrass and was hardly recognisable from his younger days. RIP Bill Maynard.
