I think he did throw a strop, albeit quietly. There were the "injuries" and the "I've played my last game for Liverpool" quotes all happening in the summer and he made no effort to disassociate himself from the rumours. All of those things started to kick off again in January.
Klopp doesn't like players who don't want to play for him and I think that he'd had enough. Rather than the club being happy with the deal I think they were just resigned to it.

Were reports that club offered him captains armband, was this just press talk?

he was injured til end of season last year so theres 7 more games to add to it.

we also dumped league cup thus year but were in cl so he has played 6 less times in league thus far this season apparently.

27 games played last year and 2 cup games.

this year he has played 23 league games out of 31, 2 cup games and 6 cl games.

so... he had a hamstring injury in november and missed 5 games.

he had a red card for actually trying v city. thats 3 games.

so theres 8 games missed for you.
