I wouldn't disagree with any of that, tbh - until the last sentence.I'll be honest MITO - your reaction is exactly what the Echo was after. Rather than checking out if there was any sensationalism (happens when translating all the time) in the story, you've gone full circle and ripped Emre.
He has a contract which he is fulfilling. His performances are inconsistent but that is the same as has been for him since he joined. Is it fair to suddenly say this season it's all down to him wanting to leave?
Perhaps he is seeking a big move, but jumping to that conclusion, lambasting him without knowing the facts would make you look incredibly foolish if he decided to stay. Juve are offering money, titles and all the benefits of Italy over England (e.g. weather). I'd prefer him to stay, he has room for improvement etc. but I wouldn't start the s*** smear campaign over this.
At this point, he holds the cards and can delay as much as he so wishes. Clubs use tactics like this all the time and we back them for 'business sense' but when a player uses them - he's greedy/disloyal/egotistical.
They're grown men with decisions to make about a five-year contract in a career that lasts around 15 years. Players are entitled to care about money - they're human.
No offence, but it does make me laugh (and not in a nice way) when I see people trying to equate the lives of footballers with ordinary workers. Of course if you earn say, 20k p.a. and someone offers you 30k you'd be expected to take it. However, top footballers earn more in a year than most of the people who provide them with that lavish lifestyle will see in their lives. Their 15 year career is no impediment, more a massive privilege as they are then set up for life and can do whatever they like for the rest of their days. Of course they miss out on a few years of adolescent faffing about because they have to obey a strict regime, but having accepted the coin then they have to accept what is required to go with it.
I fully understand that if a player has no emotional attachment to a club then they can go wherever they feel happiest, but I do think the money-chasing is a manifestation of greed or ego. I prefer to think it's the latter, because I imagine if a player looks at someone earning significantly more than them it stings a bit - and they're brought up in the "You're worth it" entitlement culture of today.
Quite frankly, they should wake up every morning and marvel at how bloody lucky they are.
Tbf, I think there are many who do understand it, and there are many who put satisfaction above the accumulation of wealth - but they aren't the ones who hit the headlines.
I have no idea whether any of this applies to Can, btw - I just think it's a general point that needs making now and again.
