What I think we need more than anything else is someone to challenge Pontus for his status as the boss man at the back. It's no conincidence that he played best when Bartley was alongside him and faded when Bartley left - Bartley was big enough and had enough quality to make Pontus have to work for recognition from the fans week in week out, which he craves, and he thrived on the competition.
Every side that have bossed us this year, and all the better teams, build their sides around two giant centre backs who repel everything thrown at them, and bully attackers. We only have one.
Anyone coming in would need to be six four plus, hard as nails and experienced at this level or above in a good side, and have a desire to not only win but stand out - think Aiden Fllint, Morrison / Bamba at Cardiff.
And they don't come cheap, but serious money spent on that position and one good attacking mid, likes of Maddison at Norwich, and we'd be better placed to compete.
Still leaves the striker question, but it'd be a start.
Just my take anyway.
