Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to step up their interest in bringing Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger to the French capital next season, after Les Parisiens crashed out of the UEFA Champions League.
I started reading Wikipedia to see how old Wenger is and having read he was forced to fight for the German army in 1944 thought he's a lot older than I realised. I re-read it, it was Wenger's father's who was in the German army - I'd somehow skipped ''Alphonse Wenger' and thought it was him
Liverpool midfielder Emre Can's agent has "blocked all negotiations" regarding the 24-year-old Germany international's future. (Express) Liverpool's hopes of signing Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic have been dented with the La Liga leaders now keen to hold on to the Croatia international, 29. (AS, via Talksport) Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is ready to leave the Anfield club, with Napoli and Borussia Dortmund both considering moves for the 30-year-old. (DH - in French) Liverpool are close to reaching an agreement with Monaco for 22-year-old France winger Thomas Lemar. (Le 10 Sport, via Metro)
The Lemar rumours wont go away. Is he the new Turan or will we actually buy him? Who the f*ck know. In general though, we are being linked to a much higher quality of player....not always a good thing (see Utd) - but positive signs.
Think that like the VvD rumours, if Klopp wants a player there's a high probability we'll buy the player. The fact that Lemar keeps popping up looks like we are genuinely interested. These aren't the days of Comoli and his scatter gun transfers
Shopping list so far: 1 x FW (who can play along the front 3) - Lemar? 1 x CM - ?? 1 x CB - de Vrij? (On a free isn't he?) 1 x GK - Allison 4 players and we are far more serious challengers imo.
Liverpool striker Sadio Mane says he is happy he chose a move to Anfield rather than Old Trafford as "it is always better to play for an attacking team." (Telegraph) Stoke striker Peter Crouch says Liverpool's Roberto Firmino and Tottenham's Son Heung-min are altering the way football is played because of their impressive workload. (Mail) Manchester City are ready to enter the race to sign Monaco's France midfielder Thomas Lemar, 22. (Telegraph)
I understand Napoli might part with Koulibaly this summer. We really need to be in for him, Matip is never fit and Lovren is a **** I wouldn't trust at League One level.
He would be very expensive. I think Napoli wanted around 70m for him. But either way, we need a partner for VVD.
We need another CM. maybe two if Can goes. A CB A GK A forward. We're a long way off City yet. Every penny of the Couthino money is needed.
Keita incoming plus a controller - there are strong links with Jorginho which is encouraging. For me, these are the two most crucial signings. We’ve seen in a number of games where our midfield works hard but just can’t dictate the tempo or create. Keita and Jorginho are perfect for that. And I hope we’re in for Lemar as well. Partner for VVD is needed as well - it’s been refreshing watching VVD play because it’s been a while since one of our CB’s just does his job with no concerns.
At least one of our summer signings will need to be on a free. Can't see us coughing up £100m let alone the £200m that what we need will cost!
