Redknapp just described Chelsea’s performance as a ‘crime against football’ For once he’s right, that was supposed to be 2 top sides in a top PL match.
not a single attempt on target in 90 mins.... from the defending champions ... fair enough if you are happy with that performance but it was embarrassing to watch. They tore us apart and we played poorly but at least we tried to get in their half. You played with your strikers on the Bench Wigan gave them a better game than you did today and that is pretty damning.
That's about right for Rednapp, City are the British equivilent of Barca and Silva an Iniesta. Would have liked to have done better but the only real chance we had we blew it.
It wasn’t the fact that you went there defensive it was the fact that’s you never even tried to press them or regain the ball when you sat in, it was dross mate.
Yeah it wasn't good but there it is. The difference is Pep got all his transfer targets and we didn't, it showed.
**** all to do with transfers, you went there and set up like relegation candidates and never even tried to have a go in that first half, hoofing the ball over a pint sized forwards head. When he had Rylan and £60m Morata on the bench....
Playing no striker v City is beyond stupid and negative. Like I said if you are happy with that performance then good for you but lots of your players were ****ed off on the pitch. There was no pressure on city players, no closing down and at points in the second half your players were walking. City did not need to play well today. worst of all was the fact that you had 3 attempts and none on target in a whole match. That shows the tactics were awful. You had 45 minutes to equalise but did not look like you we ever going to imho.
Liverpool beat them doing exactly that...but you do not need to go toe to toe...but you do have to try and get in their box and score. You do have to close them down and you do have to put pressure on the player with the ball. Chelsea did none of this today.
The tactics were determined by his decision to play without a striker...and with no strikers you never looked like scoring. They were brought on way too late in my opinion.
nah. Bellerin hasn't been great but I'd have bellerin over both your FBs. Tripps is good against 90% of the league and has great crossing ability. He's not 1 to dominate a 1 on 1 imo when the player is superior but Spurs are such a dominant team (generally) he isn't exposed. He is your version of Alonso, consistent 8/10 performances but he won't be like a walker to dominate. Aurier on the other hand is like a Walker who can physically impose himself except that he's always got a stupid mistake/tackle in him which if he irons out would make him a world class FB.
Cant agree more but he obviously thought he could get something on the counter. Personally I'd have bought on Morata after half time and gone to 4-4-2.
