This forum keeps the world ticking over. Thanks for reminding me to take my pills, I sped out this morning & forgot to take them.
I thought i had spelt that right. Castro is way more batty than me. When everyone was sure that the Allams were selling up, I was still doubting it, then Chazz came along and said I was like that Japanese soldier living in a cave not believing the war had ended.
If you know of a financial institution that will agree to loan tens of millions, to a company whose income is about to fall off a cliff, please PM me their contact details.
There was a point when it got down to a handful of us. The Allams goodbye message was in the program, a non refundable deposit had been paid, and some other stuff convinced most that it was a done deal. now waiting for someone to come and say it was the FA who said the buyers were not fit and proper.
I recall it well BT, I was about to write that I'd celebrate when they've actually gone, on reflection - I don't think I will, the ever increasing bile of 'fan against fan' has finished me, I can't imagine myself sat next to some **** who 'wasn't bothered' about the name change or someone who could celebrate getting cheaper tickets at the expense of kids and OAP's. I may get to the odd game but, my days of spending thousands of pounds, adding to the already thousands of motorway miles and missing family stuff for football matches is LONG gone - the Allams haven't killed it for me, our fans have.
They don't, I go to the City v Burnley games at Turf Moor with a pal of mine who is a big Burnley fan and share holder. The last time we played them, I was discussing this with him and Alistair Campbell (who is a big fan) in the lounge before the game, and they both said no one wants a new stadium.
Really? Been a while since I've read of it and without remembering specifics, I recall it got hairy canary. But that sounds Class A mental.
http://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/1978-09-12: Burnley 1-0 Celtic, Anglo Scottish Cup "After this Celtic fans threw cans and bottles and invaded the 'no mans land' piece of terracing separating the rival fans. Only the appearance of Police dogs managed to force them back into their own section. Celtic fans tore up six foot iron railings and used them as missiles"
As a matter of interest, as you seem to agree that he ought to move on (from both side's perspective), how do you think it should have been handled differently?
I think just to let his option of a year extension to expire, rather than tell him they are not planning to offer him a new contract is a poor way to handle someone who has been at the club as long as he has. We know this is an Allams way, as Dawson and others last time were kept in the dark and then they suddenly found out the club had triggered their extensions. Poor way to handle things IMO.
