Just off topic/what might have been, press reporting that Burnley are the subject of a £180 million takeover bid from a middle east consortium.

See I know they’ve got loads of guaranteed money incoming but for them to kick on any further they 100% need a new stadium and that’s £150m extra spend needed minimum. I’d rather take Sunlan for nowt.

Even if they were on offer for nowt, you know they'd stick to tradition, and leave the negotiations three quarters of the way through.

Was just thinking about that.

They really are shaving everything to the bone, all the players with any value will be gone, all the willing volunteers and part time staff sacked off. They will have made a profit during their ownership of City but when they finally walk away (I think they will do that rather than sell) we will be a loss making club. Now here is where i am unsure what will happen, can they say they can't sustain the losses and put us into voluntary administration? Could they not pay a tax bill and get a winding up order? or something similar i haven't thought of.

The SMC is being loaded with debt, i can see them handing it back to the HCC along with the stadium in a state of disrepair. Somehow the council will have to repay the Allams or forever be in their debt and pick up the cost of bring the stadium up to standard.

As for the sale i can't see a buyer at any price, even if the old **** keeps his word for once and try's to give it away because we will be so far from a viable business there will be so many more attractive options.

Sorry to be so negative but the actions of the Allams not their words have made me think this way.

Net liabilities for SMC and HCT at last accounts (30/06/2017) were £10m and £38m respectively.

Wasn't it about £30m when they bought the club? So, clear the £77m owed to Allamhouse while transferring £59m creditors to third parties and its job done. Back where we found you.

No need for a larger etadium in a town of 80,000 with a lot of other clubs nearby. Even Leeds is closer to Burnley than it is to Hull though you don't see people walking round in .Burnley wearing WS scarves like you do in Hull. They do well to get the crowds they do.
They are a well run club. Get some investment on top of the PL money and they could establish themselves in the PL. Which is an jndictment on the way some clubs from cities 3 times and more larger have been run.

I wasn’t advocating a much bigger stadium.

Haven't been to Turf Moor since it's been all-seater, but it was class with the big terraces.

I remember as a kid being enthralled with a story about an Anglo-Scottish Cup tie there with Celtic in the 70s - with thousands of Celtic fans ripping the place to shreds.

Went there 1971/1972 season. Absolutely pissing it down. Only a busful there.3 of us went in the big side stand and discovered that they served beer in a couple of bars behind it. A novelty compared to a hut selling bovril at KC. Everything going swimmingly then Waggy set off from the halfway line, going round everybody and slotting it home. We jumped up cheering whilst in the rest of the stand you could hear a pin drop and all around glaring at us. A second goal saw them get quite irate and storm into the seats behind the goal. Protests ensued. Going out a Burnley fan said don't worry, nobody is bothered about you lot, other fish to fry. It ended up with the manager being smuggled out in a laundry basket.

At the KC in 1971/72?
I was going to Boothferry Park back then.
