Hahaha I'm based in E&C for Uni, been living there for a little while but am moving to Brockley early next week. E&C's like the land that time forgot, ****ing horrendous like. It's easier to get into a fight than to cross the road. Brockley however, bit going on, leafy, residential... Full of bored housewives. LIKE IT. Borough/Oval way's nice, looked at moving towards that way but decided to go further out to save a bit of dosh.
I was born in Brockley. About 5 years after we left the house, someone got shot and killed in it. There was a tree outside, though.
That cracked me up. I wonder of the tree was used to stake out the victim before the fateful event...
Back in the 80s I used to referee boxing matches and ended up in the E & C tube at one in the morning in me dinner jacket. Thought it was punch-up time for sure! Brockley's a strange mix, though. Million pound houses all over, but some bits are as rough as buggery. I had mates there at Uni and we'd walk across the common to Lewisham to get pissed in the Fox & Ferkin. Also did a couple of boxing shows at the Lewisham Theatre in Catford, just down the road. Cheap beer there in those days...
Think it was domestic. There was another one in the same road a couple of years back. Depends where in Brockley you are, but I have never, ever, thought of it as leafy and residential. Eyes wide open, mate.
Can't be worse than Elephant and Castle and Handsworth (Birmingham) where I've been previously. If I stop posting suddenly as of next weeks guys I'd like you all to know one thing... I can't stand any of you ****ers.
Get yourself to sunny Surbiton, loads of posh birds and students who love a bit of northern rough. Not for me though, I am well past it and happily married these days. Quick bit of typing there as missus looks over shoulder at what I am laughing at, think I got away with it.
Worse? That's a bit like comparing being stabbed to being shot! Seriously, though, I would think that it's an improvement in surroundings - just keep your wits, as I'm sure you will.
